Scores & Soundtrack: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

This weeks Scores and Soundtracks is a double feature because the soundtrack is so damn good I had to post a couple of songs from the film.
This weeks featured film is The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck.  The score to this film is fantastic!  It’s one of my favorite scores to come out of 2007 - I still listen to it today.  The score is composed by Nick Cave and performed by Warren Ellis.  Enjoy!

Scores & Soundtracks: Predator

One of the great scores is of course Predator.  The composer behind that is Alan Silvestri, best known for his Back to the Future score.  Above is the main theme for the Arnold Schwarzenegger film.  Enjoy!

Scores and Soundtracks: Close Encounters of the Third Kind

This weeks scores and soundtracks comes from the great John Williams in one of Steven Spielberg’s greatest films, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  The 1977 film is amazing and the Williams score is fantastic - when isn’t Williams fantastic.  He’s scored so many great things over the course of his career - this is no different.  Please enjoy this piece of music and see if you recognize one of the themes.

Scores and Soundtracks: Gladiator

I don’t have to introduce this composer - Hans Zimmer.  He’s the best in the business and he’s making his way to being better than John Williams, if he’s not already.

Scores & Soundtracks: Blade Runner

This is such an amazing movie.  This weeks score comes from my favorite science fiction film (probably at least) - Blade Runner.  The amazing score comes from Vangelis and it’s really a kind of score that we don’t hear anymore.  Thanks to the kick ass music video skills from Youtube user Mart138 here’s the video above.

Scores & Soundtracks: Terminator 2 Judgment Day

What’s better than Brad Fiedel’s theme for Terminator?  Sadly, he’s not scoring the theme in Terminator Salvation which is disheartening but his scores from Terminator and Terminator 2 Judgment Day will always remain.

Scores & Soundtracks: The DaVinci Code

Those of us who love scores know that Hans Zimmer is one of the best in the business.  His DaVinci score shows how incredible he is.
With the upcoming release this week of Angels & Demons, lets listen to the main theme from The DaVinci Code - one of the best themes that I’ve ever heard.

Scores & Soundtracks: Star Trek The Original Series

With just one week to go before the new Star Trek film premieres, here’s the last piece of music from the Star Trek franchise that I’m going to post with next week being a new song for a new film.
Alexander Courage was the first person to create a theme song for this 40+ year franchise and here it is for you to listen to.  You will recognize this score when you hear the music in the new film because Star Trek 2009 composer Michael Giacchino created his version as the …

Scores and Soundtracks: Star Trek The Undiscovered Country

Considered to be almost as awesome as The Wrath of Khan is the last film featuring all of the original series characters, Star Trek The Undiscovered Country - an epic Klingon encounter.
The score for this film was composed by Cliff Eidelman - it’s fantastic.  Below is the opening theme to Star Trek 6 but featured on the front page will be the video below that showing us the final scene of the original crew of the USS Enterprise and the credits.  Enjoy!

Scores & Soundtracks: Star Trek The Final Frontier

When Star Trek was at its strongest, it all came to a halt with Star Trek 5.  Although I don’t mind the film, it’s considered to be one of the worst in the franchise.  Personally, out of the TOS film franchise it’s my least favorite film.
Even so, here’s the opening theme to this film.  The movie might not be that great but Goldsmith music is always awesome!

Angels and Demons: Sneak Peek at the new score

If you remember at the end of The DaVinci Code, we heard this fantastic piece from Hanz Zimmer called Chevaliers de Sangreal.  It’s an amazing song and by the way, The DaVinci Code is a great movie! I know I’m in the minority but I don’t care - I love that movie.

With four more weeks until the premiere of Star Trek, here’s the great score from Leonard Rosenmen in the fourth film in the franchise - Star Trek: The Voyage Home, the second film directed by Leonard Nimoy.
Out of all of the Star Trek films to date, this score is my favorite by far.  To listen to the full score, CLICK HERE. Below is the song that will be featured on the front page.
