The writer of the original Silent Hill movie, Roger Avary, is returning to the franchise again to write the sequel! He’s working alongside the original producer, Samuel Hadida, so if we’re lucky, we’ll get another Silent Hill movie very soon. The complete story is at ComingSoon.net.
For those of you unaware how awesome Silent Hill is, Silent Hill was a 2006 horror film starring Radha Mitchell and Jodelle Ferland. It was based on one of the most popular survival horror video game franchises ever made. Except unlike, …

Also from SciFi Wire, they posted an article on ‘Five things you don’t know about Tron Legacy’.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
To summarize and add my own thoughts as well - There’s some very interesting stuff in the article, including information that Jeff Bridges will actually be playing two characters in this film, his 30 year old self and his currently-aged self, which seemed pretty clear from the trailers, but we don’t know why or how. My theory is that his digitized body stayed in the Tron landscape after the first movie, where …

In an interesting juxtaposition of news events, DC Comics and Warner are changing their stance at the same time Disney is promising to stay away from Marvel.
DC is rebooting itself as DC Entertainment instead of DC Comics now. Warner’s got a new exec taking over making films based on DC’s characters, and they’re determined to take a hard look at making movies out of “lesser known characters and untapped resources.” To me this just sounds like Warner realizing that if Disney can buy Marvel, especially after the critical …

Welcome back dear readers! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend, I know I did - mostly Rock Band 2 and watching some old Star Trek DVD’s. There was quite a bit of news this weekend so we’ll jump right in with Whiteout.
First up, the lovely folks at ShockTillYouDrop.com have some fluff interviews with the cast here. The interviews are actually not very informative on the movie, more they discuss the minus fifty degree weather they had to endure, but this being me and Phil’s …

In perhaps some unsurprising news, but still a little sad, Patrick Stewart and Leonard Nimoy both announced during this year’s Dragon*Con that they were likely not going to be returning to the franchise. Stewart did comment that he might do a cameo if the franchise allowed it, but ultimately he’s moved on. And I wish I could have been there - this might be the last time that the old-Trek stars ever come to a Con, especially in such force - William Shatner was there as well. …

I know Phil and I are excited as all-get-out over this, Tron Legacy finally has a release date!! December 17, 2010!

There are also new cast members as well, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Sheen, John Hurt, …

Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht discuss the horrible weather conditions during Whiteout with SciFiWire. For those of you not familiar, this movie is about Federal agents in Antarctica that discover there is a murder, and they have to solve the murder before lockdown occurs for the winter in 3 days.
I was hoping for a little more information about the plot, but apparently each actor was given a thick book during their trip to the freezing areas of Canada on how many ways they could be hurt or killed by …

Two movies that I’ve been looking forward to for a while, Kick-Ass and The Expendables, have been given release dates.
First up, Kick-Ass has been scheduled to make its anticipated premiere on April 16, 2010 basically kicking off next years summer movie season, granted I consider that season starting in May, but April gives us all a taste of what we hope is a good summer season for action-packed blockbusters.
From Fandango: “Mark Millar’s violent comic tale of wannabe superheroes is adapted by writer/director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) with this Marv Films …

It’s now being reported that Downey Jr. may reteam with his Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director to direct him further in Cowboys & Aliens.
