JJ Abrams talks Mission Impossible

As you all know by now, J.J. Abrams has signed on to do Mission Impossible 4, which can only be a good thing in my opinion, especially after MI:3 rocked so hard. He’s presently in discussions with his writers on where the plot was going to go, but he got an unexpected call from a friend of Leonard Nimoy’s - Peter Graves. According to Slashfilm, JJ said:

How cool would that be? I just got a call that Peter Graves is in great shape, which would be a very …

TONS of Star Trek movie news!

There was a great deal of news this week about Star Trek and what JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are thinking of doing with the franchise, so I thought I’d compile it all into one wonderful post for you!
First off, with the upcoming release of Star Trek on Blu-Ray, there’s been a lot of talk about what will be seen there.  Well, there will indeed be a list of deleted scenes that will be accessible in the bonus features section of the disk, including a surprise Alias guest-star …

Bryan Singer in talks to re-take the X-Men Franchise

Wow, good news on a lot of fronts lately. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Singer told them that he is “in talks with Fox” about possibly returning to helm the fourth movie in the X-men franchise.
Most will consider this a welcome change after X-3 was an abysmal failure of a movie and X-Men Origins Wolverine was reviled for what it did to Deadpool.  I personally believe that X-3 was screwed up by not having David Hayter writing it, not director Brett Rattner. Hayter he did work on Michael …

Kristin Bell and Jason Bateman Talk Couples Retreat!

There’s a very cool interview over on ComingSoon.net with Jason Bateman and Kristin Bell that I just had to post some of here - apparently Kristin really does make pudding!
To quote the stunningly gorgeous blonde:
Q: Why were you making pudding in Bora Bora, which is what we were told?
Bell: First of all, who told you that?
Q: Our sources tell us.
Bell: Well, I like food.
Bateman: She’s a snack pack. (Laughs)
Bell: I do. I like snacks especially. I was concerned about the food in Bora Bora, and so I packed a lot …

Hugh Jackman and Katie Couric on Wolverine

Katie Couric had Hugh Jackman over to talk about his career on her show, and the interview was, again, very amusing so I had to post it. When she opens by saying she doesn’t ‘get’ Wolverine, really, he just pulls off his mic and goes, “Thank you, see you later,” and makes to leave. It was great!
Right now they’re getting the script together for the next Wolverine film, which he says he wants to be perfect, but I hope he hires another director. Every time I thought …

Follow Up - Horror Movies in Today’s Cinema

I just found out that Entertainment Weekly posted an article a few weeks ago that directly relates to my article last week about Horror Films.
The truth is - we can blame women! No, I’m kidding - but Entertainment Weekly has discovered some very interesting statistics about the demographic that goes to horror films - An average of sixty percent of horror moviegoers are women now. Examples, quoted from their article:

And we’re not just talking about psychological spookfests like 2002’s The Ring (60 percent female), 2004’s The Grudge …

JJ Abrams Trek officially the biggest at the Box Office!

Well we’ve finally gotten inflation-adjusted figures back from the release of Star Trek worldwide, and it turns out the JJ Abrams enterprise (or Enterprise) did the best in inflation-adjusted dollars of any Trek movie ever made! This makes it the largest grosser overall since the Motion Picture, which for some reason still nets more than all the other Trek movies even though it sucks.
The folks at TrekMovie.com have a handy-dandy chart:

I have to say, I’m impressed. I was hoping the reboot did well, but this is even better …

Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool and Green Lantern

I was held late at work yesterday so I wasn’t able to post this as quickly as I like.  Just so you know, I don’t normally post talk show visits, especially speculative ones where principal photography hasn’t even begun, but this one was so priceless I felt the need to share immediately.  I was laughing out loud at work when i saw this!
Ryan Reynolds was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week to talk about his upcoming gig as Green Lantern, followed by his gig as Deadpool.  The man’s …

Adrian Brody leads an announced cast for PREDATORS!

It comes as a surprise for all of us who are excited to see if Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal can resurrect the Predator franchise, that Oscar winner Adrian Brody has been cast as the lead character in the upcoming scifi action.  Joining the already casted Danny Trejo and UFC fighter Oleg Taktrov is Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (The 4400), Walt Goggins (The Shield), with Topher Grace in negotiations.  By the way, yes, Mahershalalhashbaz is a real name.
“Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle …

David Goyer talks Ghost Rider 2

This news is a bit old, but I meant to post it last week and forgot. Over at Collider, David Goyer talked to the press about FlashForward, but also let slip a bit of his involvement with Ghost Rider 2. Apparently, his script was the original front-runner for the Ghost Rider script, and somewhere along the way, Mark Steven Johnson’s extremely-four-color Ghost Rider treatment got chosen instead. It’s a shame, I would’ve liked to have seen Goyer’s take on the franchise.
In the video below, Goyer discusses how …

Olivia Wilde’s Legacy (Tron Legacy)

ComingSoon.net has an interview up with the always-stunning Olivia Wilde about her upcoming part in Tron Legacy. Apparently principal photography, at least for her, is complete - so that’s good news, we’re one step closer to seeing the finished movie.
I really liked how she described the shoot -
That it was, like, the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. We shot some 20-hour days, we were wearing the suits, which are not easy to wear. I was doing a lot of my own stunts and training a lot of the …
