This years Oscars has a new conductor.  Michael Giacchino has been hired by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to compose the Academy Awards this year.
Giacchino’s work includeds Ratatouille, Speed Racer, Mission Impossible III, The Incredibles and Lost.  He’s also composing the score for Star Trek, my most anticipated film of 2009.
So this is great news.  That’s it.  Watch the Oscars February 22nd.

It probably comes as no surprise to you but the day of the Academy Awards is my super bowl.  It’s no secret that movies, in most cases, is more than a hobby for me.  It’s a passion.  So when the Oscars come around, it’s a fun day for me.  That said, the Oscar ceremony is utterly boring.  It has been the last couple of years ever since Billy Crystal stopped hosting.  Honestly, the hosts haven’t help with the entertainment of the show.  Ellen DeGeneres, in my opinion, is the worst host …

British comedian Ricky Gervais made a big impact during this past Emmy Awards and because of that, rumors have began circulating that he’s being saught after for the annual Academy Awards, which you can read about right HERE!
Are those rumors true?  Larry Mark who’s the co-producer of the Oscars told Yahoo!, “We haven’t made one single phone call.  There has been no reaching out.”
Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences says “We haven’t gotten that far yet.”

Good news for this years Oscars; we might get a funny host actually.  Not Ellen.
If anyone watched the Emmy’s last week, you saw Ricky Gervais and you saw how hysterical he was.  In fact he was the funniest person to attend the Emmy’s that night.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Gervais’s reps have been receiving “inquiries about his availability and were urged to book a meeting with Academy Awards organizers”.  A source says, “The buzz around town is that Ricky should host the Oscars,” and I’m all for that.
