In recent years the Oscars were beginning to get brutally boring which caused the ratings for the event to drop dramatically. This past weekend was the British Academy Film Awards and as expected, the same people that have been winning awards have won awards here - Slumdog Millionaire, Kate Winslet, Mickey Rourke and of course Heath Ledger.
The interesting thing, although most people won’t care, is that the BAFTA’s are shot really well.  When you look at the clips below, you’ll notice close-ups and angles that you don’t normally get in the American award shows.  I just thought I’d point that out.

The best part about major award shows is the hottest of the hot come out dressed up to KILL!  These women above are the hottest, in my opinion, but only one was nominated and didn’t win.

This caught me by surprise but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have hired Wolverine and recently Australia star Hugh Jackman to host the 81st Academy Awards.
“Hugh Jackman is a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star,” Laurence Mark and BIll Condon said in a joint statement, producer and executive producer.  “He also has a style, elegance and a sense of occasion.  Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year’s movies - and to have fun doing it.”
