Vampires(Shiny or not) Dominate People’s Choice Awards

*sigh* Agent K said it best. A person is smart, people are dumb panicky creatures. This year's People's Choice Awards provided pretty concrete proof that he's right, as Twilight ran off with the awards for Favorite Movie, Favorite Franchise, Favorite On-screen team(Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) and Favorite Breakout Male Actor(Lautner again).
supernatural-luciferAt least it didnt win EVERYWHERE. Favorite TV Obsession was won by True Blood, while the Vampire Diaries took home the Favorite New TV Drama award. On a POSITIVE note, Supernatural won Favorite ScifiFantasy Show. Go CW Go!

Queen Latifah hosted again this year, her fourth year hosting the PCA, where all nominees and winners are chosen based on online voting. Honestly, that part right there explains completely why Twilight won; all the little tweens and teeny-boppers clicking their hearts out voting over and over, no doubt arranging for voting drives and all the other sort of social-network nonsense that rules the net right now.

Other scififantasy winners including Jugh Jackman as Favorite Action Star(bub), Jim Carrey as Favorite Comedic Star, Up as Favorite Family Movie, and The Big Bang Theory as Favorite TV Comedy. Alyson Hannigan(mmmm) won Favorite TV Comedy Actress, Steve Carell for Favorite TV Comedy Actor, Katherine Heigl(Roswell) for Favorite TV Drama actress, and even sci-fi inspired Lady Gaga for Favorite Breakout Music Artist.

It seems that the science fiction(well, somewhat anyhow) and fantasy themes are becoming the next big thing in TV and movies; I can only but hope this means we've seen the last of insipid, pointless reality TV shows and movies with less plot than some children's books.
