NFD Daily
Welcome back to NFD Daily - sorry about yesterday's absence, I was ill. Of a note - the site will be closed from Thanksgiving until the following Monday. We hope you all have a terrific Holiday weekend!
First off, some hot new pics from a movie called Bitch Slap, which is going to be horrible beyond words, but fun to watch if you like that sortof thing. It's based on the old 70's exploitation films, and there's a plot summary, but I don't think anyone will be watching it for the plot. If you want to read more about it, you can here, otherwise, here's three hot promo shots for it -
SciFiWire reports that a new CBS program called Beastly will be airing next year, a modern take on the Beauty and the Beast riff. The trailer is a scant 10 second trailer so I won't bother posting it. If it seems like it might not suck, we'll post more on this as we have it.
The new Doctor Who End of Time snippet is up, which I'm looking forward to! The press release is below.
The press release about it states:
The final two specials, Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One and Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part Two, will premiere over the holiday season starting December 26 on BBC AMERICA. Guest stars John Simm, Timothy Dalton, Catherine Tate, Lindsay Duncan and Bernard Cribbins join Tennant on his final journey. Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One premieres Saturday December 26, 9:00pm ET/PT on BBC AMERICA.
Also according to SciFiWire, J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Spider-Man comics)is going to produce a remake of the classic SciFi movie Forbidden Planet. He says it will still be a strong character piece while adding more action.
If you liked the first two movies, Universal Soldier Regeneration has a trailer below -
Joss Whedon is being honored with the Producers Guild of America 2010 Vanguard Award, putting him in the same league as George Lucas and James Cameron. You can read the full article here, but the basic jist is Joss responded with his usual wit (or at least half of it) that he was flattered even though he says he didn't deserve it:
"The truth is, I've never actually guarded a van. But I am a super-total visionary, so that fits. I'm ready to take my place next to the guys who made THX 1138 and Tin Toy (Did they ever do anything else, btw? They showed such promise.). This is a time of radical change in media delivery and content, and I'm honestly proud the PGA has singled me out as someone who sort of knows what's going on."
Here's another clip from Avatar, which the more I see of it, the more convinced I am that it's not going to be the savior of 3D movies that Cameron thinks it is, but whatever:
Over at SuperheroHype, they're reporting that there's a new Kull: The Conqueror movie coming out. The original one was full of cheese and starred Kevin Sorbo. This one they're driving for a little more grit, by the sound of it.
Here's another trailer for Smallville's upcoming winter episodes - Um... is anyone else noticing this:

looks a LOT like the Lantern Ring?? Are they actually going to do that?? I can't imagine they will.
This isn't exactly news, per se, but I saw this over at AICN and I had to post it - this is a Crysis mod for Back to the Future - I wish someone would pay them to make this, because I'd play it!
The lovely Natalie Portman revealed to ComingSoon.net recently that there's yet another cast member being added to Thor. This time, the delectable Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist). No word on what she's playing, though - I'd imagine with such a star-studded cast, she's a minor role. I saw this as a great opportunity to post a few photographs, since I've been in love with her ever since I saw that movie, so I shall! She's fresh on the movie scene so there haven't been a lot of pictures of her yet, but she always looks lovely, and has such an incredible body - here are some of my favorites:

Lok forward to the next Doctor Who movie. Waters of Mars was excellent.
Ditto here, Fred, ditto here. And since it’s gonna be a two parter, it’s gonna be epic.
