Crow Revamp has a Script

I'll preface the rest of this article by saying that The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. It's divinely directed, with design choices both subtle and gross that accent the darkness of this tale. The sets were sublime, carefully coated in muck and grime to look like Detroit. The model-work was great for the gothic city, the directing was never off even once, the acting was top notch despite being a low-budget film (I've never bought a speed addict more than I bought 'Skank'), and it was edited brilliantly despite the unfortunate loss of Brandon Lee during the film. They even altered the original ending because the first ending was considered in bad taste to the demise of Lee, and the alternate ending was better than the original ending they had planned. Sometimes, facing adversity makes us stronger, and this was certainly the case with this film. It was a masterpiece of modern fantasy/gothic fantasy, and I still love it to this day. If you haven't ever seen it, I can't recommend it strongly enough, if you like quasi-realistic dark, gothic tales about life, death, and love, it's worth your time.
That being said, I've watched all the other Crow films, and I have to say, City of Angels was one of the worst films EVER made (a nice counterpoint to the Crow being one of the best films ever made, if an unwanted one!), Salvation was pretty okay, and Wicked Prayer was absolutely hilarious. If you've never seen Wicked Prayer, and you like Robert Rodriguez style movies, grab a beer or three, and prepare to laugh at one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. What other film could possibly have Dennis Hopper star as the leader of a Satanic cult perform a wedding by stating: "I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU THE ANTI-CHRIST AND HIS SHORTY!" Oh my GOD that was so funny!
I'm digressing though. With the exception of Crow: Salvation, we really haven't gotten back to the roots of what makes The Crow awesome, since you can't ever reproduce the first film.
However, what do I find in the news today but Slashfilm has posted new news, and a question, about the Crow remake. The director of the first Blade movie, Stephen Norrington, has finished his polish on the Crow script and submitted it to Relativity Media. He claims that it will not be a remake, but infact a more spiritual successor to the first film. It will not feature Eric Draven - which is good, in my opinion - but someone new. Probably still a rock-and-roll star, though. When Norrington was asked last year about this project, he stated:
So, the question Slashfilm has asked, and I want to ask of you dear NFD readers is - those of you who know what the Crow is about, even the comic book if you've not seen the movie - who would you want to play the next undead rock and roller for the Crow reboot? Honestly, I'm sick of random middle-aged white men being the centerpiece, I'd like it to be a woman this time. I think Blade: The Series's Jill Wagner would make an excellent Crow, since that's basically what she was playing in Blade, only different.

The Crow series has spawned several great series and short stories. One of the most poignant that I had read was how the thirst for vengeance actual continued to tie them to being the avenging crow. Only through realization of the concept of forgiveness would allow the crow to move on to the next life. That being said I think that it could be open to any one. Anyone who takes the Genre seriously.
Mila Jojovavich is always god for the sultry ass kicker
Tony Ja could be a good candidate
The concept of an older crow with the strength of a younger man opens it up to more mature actors. (hey we are dealing with the supernatural here after all) More ideas to come.
