Smallville to get a Hawkman and Dr. Fate!
News today came down from SciFiWire that Smallville's Justice Society is filling out.
Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1, Burn Notice) has been cast in the part of Hawkman, the iconic flying character with a hawk-like headpiece (which I rather doubt he'll have in Smallville, since I doubt Shanks would humiliate himself like that and Smallville has been known for 're-envisioning' characters in the past).
The other character, Dr. Fate (DC's answer to Doctor Strange... sortof) will be played by Brent Stait, a canadian actor known for playing Rev Bem in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.
I had thought that after the League fell apart, this plotline was done, but apparently the Justice Society really is going to come together. I wish they'd just add Wonder Woman already - I understand that Batman they may not have the license for (though it was clearly established in season 5 that Lex went to the same prep school Bruce Wayne went to), but we could easily do a Wonder Woman episode.
At any rate, I've been loving Smallville so far this year so I hope it continues to get better!
