Black Lightning…What did I just watch?

I'm not quite sure what to say; Black Lightning is a Russian movie, and so I was expecting some level of weirdness (it seems to me other countries are way more willing to green light more oddball movies than American studios; or maybe its just because those are the ones that make the leap across the Atlantic\Pacific). But this...it's like Iron Man meets Herbie Goes Bananas with a dash of Spiderman thrown in for spice.

'This is a story of Moscow University's student who becomes the owner of ordinary from the first sight, been-used, but... able to fly "Volga" car. With this car he will be able to not only avoid Moscow traffic jams, but unexpectedly for himself turn to city's defender, mysterious fighter against Evil.'

You cant make this sort of thing up; I didn't understand any of the dialogue since my attempts to learn Russian have as of yet not panned out, but the general setup seems to be a becoming-a-superhero story and 'With great power' thing a la Peter Parker, but with the fun technogadgetry of Tony Stark. Quirky, but the preview actually held my interest. The blond love interest (I assume) is attractive as well, so that's another plus. The protagonist does all the usual stuff if you discovered the old junker (A Volga, presumably the equivalent of Volvo or Generic Low-End Car) you bought was a flying technological powerhouse: soar through the city, use it to make lots of money and woo the object of your desire.

Then, somehow, he becomes inspired to fight crime with it, even flying it into a burning building to rescue people. Of course, next reveal is that scientists (the originals?) built a much shinier, more modern version of Herbie-er, the flying Volga and its being used for evil. Que the dramatic music and multiple cut-aways for effect.

Really, I'm kind of hoping for an English cut of this movie when it gets released; its quirky enough to appeal to my love of weird films and actually seems directed competently enough. Oh, and the cars have the hover-effect like from Back to the Future II. Awesome.
