Sanctuary premiere review (Quick Thoughts on ep. 1 and 2)
Beware of minor spoilers for Sanctuary.
I would have posted a review for the season premiere of Sanctuary last week, however, given that the premiere was actually two parts, I figured I wait until this past Friday before writing my review. Now that both episodes have aired, what are my first impressions of the new season? Unlike last year, my impressions are really good; that is, at least, if they keep going the way the started off.
Last year, we were left off with two things; a start of a war and Ashley's capture. What are the consequences of that capture? The answer; Shit hitting the fan. The season premiere, or at least the first two aired episodes, open up very big. High in action and pace with Ashley leading a deadly attack on the Sanctuary network around the world. Why is Ashley leading the attack? Because the Kabal transformed her into a hybrid abnormal using the source blood which she stole for the Kabal last season - mind you this was all done by force as Ashley had no control.
End of Nights - Part I & II
Just to get this out of the way, let me say this about the first two season 2 episodes of the season; Comic Book frames do not work! What was the all about? All that tells me about the director of the episode is that he A) tried and failed to be stylish or B) thought using a gimmick would help tell the story. Sadly, Martin Wood, it doesn't help and shame on you for throwing a gimmick at a smart audience.
In part one of the premiere we mainly observe poor Ashley being forced into a monster as she's now able to teleport, become a vampire, and can heal wounds because of the source blood that the Kabal manipulated. At first, I didn't know where they were going with it and I was a little bored, however, it all pays off with part two as Ashley and several others who've been injected with the source blood are unleashed on the Sanctuary network. Their goal, or at least the Kabal's goal, is to destroy the network by first destroying Sanctuary's around the work before taking out the one in charge, Helen Magnus, Ashley's mother.
The episodes give us great action as we got to see gun fights, martial arts, Jack the Ripper aka Druitt fight with two Samurai swords, Nikola Tesla be a vampire, genius, and a whino all at the same time, and heavy mother/daughter drama at the end of the premiere. I don't want to give any spoilers away because the episode is to good to ignore or for me to give up here in this short review. With that said, I might as well keep this very short and tell you that if you're a fan of Santuary, you probably loved the first two episodes. If you're a new fan looking for a reason to tune in, than this is what you want to see before going back to the first season to catch up.
I'm pumped to see more and I hope they keep this pace going throughout the season.

I have real mixed feelings about part 2. Equal parts WTF and that was cool.
did not care for it all that much. what a wast of a good back ground character.
I will continue to whach but cannot say i go out of my way to see it unlike other shows at the moment.
Wachable but not unmissable.
Should have said though i do like the new girl.
