TONS of Star Trek movie news!

There was a great deal of news this week about Star Trek and what JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are thinking of doing with the franchise, so I thought I'd compile it all into one wonderful post for you!
First off, with the upcoming release of Star Trek on Blu-Ray, there's been a lot of talk about what will be seen there. Well, there will indeed be a list of deleted scenes that will be accessible in the bonus features section of the disk, including a surprise Alias guest-star in a role I never, ever thought he'd play - a Klingon. According to JJ Abrams, when Nero was first thrust through time in the beginning of the movie, his ship was supposed to be captured by Klingons, and the Klingon interrogator trying to get information from him was none other than stage and screen actor Victor Garber. JJ was very sat to lose that scene because he'd put his friend Victor in the makeup, and they'd worked so hard on it, but sometimes things just have to be cut. That interrogation scene will be available in the DVD/BD.
If you want to catch a clip of Victor, you can see him in the Star Trek Gag Reel which I discovered today over at JoBlo.com, he's interrogating Nero and bonking into a light on set.
The complete list of deleted scenes, according to io9 is as follows:
o Spock Birth
o Klingons Take Over Narada
o Young Kirk, Johnny and Uncle Frank
o Amanda and Sarek Argue After Spock Fights
o Prison Interrogation and Breakout
o Sarek Gets Amanda
o Dorm Room and Kobayashi Maru (original version)
o Kirk Apologizes to the Green Girl
o Sarek Sees Spock
That looks like a LOT of fun stuff, and from the screen shots IO9 is showing, they might also be available integrated into the film!
Moving towards the future, Kurzman, Orci, and Abrams talk about what's coming up in the next film. First up, on ComingSoon, Kurtzman and Orci talk about the do's and don'ts of continuing the saga:
- The film needs to be a great story idea on its own - "Empire Strikes Back," "Superman 2," "Aliens," "Terminator 2," "Star Trek 2," what do all of those movies have in common? Well, they are amazing stories all on their own. You didn't have to see the first movie.
- TNG Villians? Probably not this time around, though they love TNG and the concept of the Borg, they want to go back to TOS. They haven't decided if Kahn is going to be in it or not, so those rumors are still false.
- Trek's allegory stories? " The Gitmo thing was just a for instance. We're not doing a story that is going to be about Guantanamo Bay." So we'll get allegory of some kind, which is really what Sci Fi is all about, but it may not be as ham-handed as the internet feared.
- The Story? "Okay, where are our characters now and what are interesting complications that we can put in their lives? What feels like an organic emotional place for them to get to? How do we want to test them?" They want to come up with the story organically, and once they do, the villian will bloom naturally.
So all in all, things are progressing very well towards Star Trek 2, and you can check out the whole article at the link above. I loved this movie, so I can't wait for the sequel! And don't forget, the Blu Ray drops November 17th, and has an Amazon Exclusive preorder variant that comes with a model of the Enterprise!!

US $3.99

I must be one of the few who did not like this film. The cast were all Ok but the plot????
@dread - I just thought it was fun. I really don’t require too terribly much from a movie as long as it makes me suspend my disbelief and have some fun. It was really cool. I saw it three times in the theater. Maybe if you see it again with less expectations you might like it more? Don’t know
