SyFy’s The Phantom trailer

The trailer to SyFy's new TV movie The Phantom has been released! It looks AWFUL!  I'm still going to watch it, however.  I've actually been looking forward to seeing this along with SyFy's Riverworld.  It's really hard to comment on a terrible trailer - for all I know the final product is great but the trailer cut you see above isn't exactly flattering.

"The legendary superhero returns in this modern-day and action packed miniseries event. When Kit Walker (Ryan Carnes) learns of his father’s death, the adventurous young man inherits the mantle of his superhero father. As the new Phantom, the 21st in the Walker line, Kit vows to uphold and honor his ancestors’ creed-to fight crime and injustice throughout the world." [RHI Entertainment]

The costume change could have been handled in the story itself by having the Father decided the times required a change (and possibly an interesting turn of the son wanting to go Old School), but having the Ghost Who Walks be more about a Society like Wanted than something passed down from Father to Son, that’s just wrong.

This looks again like a writer tinkering with what didnt need fixed. Ok I want some leads on how I end up writing for a show like this.

Its not a wanted type universe. The son of the phantom currently is doing a luke skywalker with his uncle. The father is getting to old to carry on from wounds and abuse. The brother/ wife are killed sending the son back to the father with knowledge of the 21st century and they fashion the new identity of the phantom together.
Conflicting views with the “old ways vs the new” etc etc etc. Come on folks its not that hard. eeek.
