Valhalla Rising trailer
By now, you should know that I'm a sucker for movies about Vikings! Yes, I loved Pathfinder!! and I'm proud of it!
During the Toronto Film Festival, IFC Films bought Valhalla Rising for a 2010 release. The films director Nicolas Winding Refn spoke to SciFi Wire about Valhalla Rising saying that he "always wanted to make a science fiction movie, but I had no interest in the technology of science fiction".
"I wanted to do a mental science fiction movie," he continues. "I find it difficult to make one in the future now, because technology always kind of goes against mythology and the concept of science fiction. So I decided to do the 1100s instead."
Refn is also the director to the critically acclaimed Pusher trilogy which I have literally sitting right next to me... for about 2 months now and I haven't watched it. I'll get to it eventually. He's also the director to a film called Bronson, which you can see the trailer over at Youtube. It's a film that stars Tom Hardy in a performance that looks to be friggin' crazy and amazing.
As for Valhalla Rising:
"For years, One-Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the chieftain Barde. Aided by a boy, Are, he kills his captor and together they escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight from bounty hunters, One-Eye and Are board a Viking vessel for Norway, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that first disintegrates as they sight an unknown land.
