First Look: Set photos for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps
If you're anything like me, you're excited for the sequel to Wall Street. Bringing back Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas the sequel "Money Never Sleeps" has its first look as the Daily Mail posts up a few photos from the set of that film.
Shown in the photos is Michael Douglas reprising his Oscar winning role of Gordon Gekko. Also pictured is co-star Shia LaBeouf and Frank Langella.
Joining the cast for the sequel is Josh Brolin with Susan Sarandon rumored as LaBeouf's characters mother. Also rumored to make some kind of appearance is Charlie Sheen as Bud Fox, the lead character to the first film.
"The film is set 20 years after the first film, in June 2008. Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) has just been released from his prison sentence of 20 years. Despite initial attempts of Gekko trying to warn Wall Street of the soon-to-be economy down-fall, stock market crash no one believes him due to his now defaced image in the financial world. Gekko then decided to re-focus his attention to rebuilding a relationship with his now-estranged daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan). Due to the time apart (because of his prison sentence), and the fact that Gekko is blamed for his son Rudy's suicide, Winnie avoids any contact with him. During this same period in time, young Wall Street trader Jacob's (Shia LaBeouf) mentor unexpectedly dies (Frank Langella), and Jacob suspects his hedge fund manager (Josh Brolin) of being involved in his mentor's death. Jacob, who is Winnie's fiance, wants to seek revenge, and agrees to team-up with Gekko for help; in return Jacob agrees to helps Gekko repair his relationship with Winnie." [Wikipedia]
Money Never Sleeps is planned to be released April 23, 2010 domestically and in the UK.
Despite the negative reaction to LaBeouf's casting, I haven't been thrown off of what could be a fantastic movie. I'm not saying it's going to be as amazing as the first film but I'm hopeful that the sequel will stand-up to what the first one did in cinema. No, I doubt they'll be Oscar nominations in this but I've been wrong before. I think it's worth mentioning, a script review from Latino Review called the film "brilliant" but the script could have changed since then. In short folks, I'm hopeful and I'm excited to see it.
