Summer Glau’s role on this season of Dollhouse
Some of us are totally miserable that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles isn't returning for a new season, although there is hope for a return in a DVD movie, yet most of us are glad to see Summer Glau continuing her work as an actress. It's not news that Summer will have a role on this season of Dollhouse but the particular role she'd be playing was still a mystery until Joss Whedon told journalists in a conference call.
Along with the news of Ray Wise guest starring, "Wise is the head of another Dollhouse - sort of a counterpart to Adelle DeWitt, with whom he'll be butting heads," writes io9.com, a participator in the conference call. "And Glau is the other Dollhouse's programmer - so she's the counterpart to Topher. And Glau's part is 'eccentric' and totally different from anything you've seen before. The writers worked extra hard to make her character 'pop' because they knew what Glau was capable of, said Whedon."
Having Summer as an eccentric character that pops is indeed different from what we've seen in her genre shows. You're well aware what kind of characters she played in both Firefly and Terminator - this, I'm sure, was a welcome change for her. I'm excited! I love Summer and I want to see her continue her career, but I will admit as much as I love Summer, the characters she created in Firefly and especially Terminator (since it's more fresh in my mind) are painfully missed. I feel the cancellation more now than I did when we got word... arghh.
We should expect to see Summer in an early episode this season!

“The writers worked extra hard” … no, no they didn’t. They never have. Cut them all loose from the horror that is Dushku.
