Rough week! - Coming up…
Hey folks, I have to apologize for the severe lack in posting this week from both myself and Chris. The first week of September was a tough one for both of us. Although I can't speak for Chris, he was having a rough time at his day job, among other things - hence lack of posting. As for me, I started out my Labor Day weekend with a slight fever and I've been fighting it off all week, plus, for some reason, my job has been ridiculously heavy - meaning more work - hence lack of posting. It was a pain in the ass for sure. Now that it's over, maybe I can get somethings done again. The exciting news at least - the next couple of weeks brings the premiere's of our favorite television shows like Terminator: The Sarah ConnorrahMcG..... fuck.
Some of you may have noticed that for the past few weeks I haven't been posting the regular TV week in Review: Quick Thoughts column - I've been thinking of creating a new way to write it by making it a little simpler for me and more enjoyable for you. Unfortunately, the ideas I came up with conflicted with one simple thing.... I work nights!!! Working nights makes me a zombie by the way. So since I work nights, I've decided to just keep the Quick Thoughts the way they are by providing a week worth of quick snippets of thought on Monday morning.
The problem I faced with working nights and watching television is sometimes I can't watch a particular episode of a show the night it airs... That's right networks, I don't watch your shit live because I've got bills! Occasionally, I've had to save up 3 or 4 shows for the end of the week - a Saturday or Sunday viewing, then I scramble to get my thoughts together. At least that's how it worked out for me last year. This year, I'm going to try and be a little more organized but I'm also going to be very brief in my Quick Thoughts because I've got a lot of shows lined up for this fall season - Officially, I'm watching 9 shows which premiere during the next couple of months, plus others will be added on throughout the season.
Here's what I'll be watching if you want to follow along, which I recommend if your a regular reader of this site:
Thursday, September 17th - Fringe
Monday, September 21st - Heroes (but who knows if I'll make it through the season)
Thursday, September 24th - Flash Forward
Friday, September 25th - Dollhouse
Friday, October 2nd - Stargate Universe, Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Friday, October 9th - Sanctuary
Tuesday, November 3rd - V
I'll also wrap up the last couple of episodes of Warehouse 13 followed up by a season one review. Of course, the final season of LOST (which is the 9th show) airs after the new year as well as a couple of other shows I plan to tune into. So in short, it's a lot of work coming up so that's why my Quick Thoughts will be short and meant for those folks who watch those shows only. If you come into a post, you won't have any context in what I'm talking about - they aren't full reviews, they're just impressions.
More than likely, as well, I will probably write season opener reviews - again, I have a lot of work ahead of me but it should be fun.
It should also be noted that Chris will be chipping in as much as he can to give his quick thoughts. He'll be watching several of the same shows I will be but he'll also be watching shows that I don't watch - which is good for you guys of course. Among the shows we'll both be watching; Fringe, Flash Forward, Dollhouse, Stargate Universe, Heroes, Star Wars: TCW, Sanctuary, and V. Among the other shows with premiere dates:
Thursday, September 10th - Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries
Wednesday, September 23rd - Eastwick
Friday, September 25th - Smallville
This year, I hope to see more discussion from you the readers about these shows and of course shows that we don't watch - why not; the more the better. More discussion adds to the evolution of the site as it builds a community - even a small community.
In other news... hopefully next week we'll be back to full normal posting, as long as I can kick this semi-fever although I don't feel that feverish anymore - I just have a wicked cough. I'm also going to try and get a couple of reviews written - the film Gamer first of all.
