Somewhat Belated Introduction to Chris!

As I sift through the comments I noticed Dreadtech said I should introduce myself and explain my overall fandoms and such, and I realized somewhat belatedly that he's right.

My name's Chris, I work in I.T., and I love a well told story, a great character piece, or a well played action movie. I love writing 'em, I love reading 'em, and I love reviewing 'em. I have a DVD/BluRay collection of probably 200 movies and 40 TV shows, plus some stuff that isn't available on DVD on my computer.

Some of my favorite TV shows are Alias, American Gothic, Angel, Buffy, Burn Notice, Chuck, The Clone Wars, Doctor Who, Ergo Proxy, Fastlane (Yeah!), Fringe, Highlander The Series, La Femme Nikita, Smallville, Supernatural, Star Trek TNG, Star Trek DS9, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, hopefully Stargate Universe, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Veronica Mars, Witchblade The Series, and X-Men Evolution (only after season 1). I'm a huge fan of Chuck and was happy to see it make it another season, though I'm still pissed off that they canceled Terminator: SCC, just like Phil is.

Movie-wise, it's harder to remember a complete list, but at least a partial one - 13 Going on 30 (Yeah, deal with it :D), Aliens, Bad Boys II, The Bourne Trilogy, Casino Royale, The Crow, The Dark Knight, Daredevil Director's Cut, Fantastic Four, The Fast and The Furious movies (all 4), Ghostbusters, Ghost Rider (yes I know it's bad, I still love it), Hellboy, Igor, Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Sum of All Fears, Nothing to Lose, The Matrix Trilogy, Mission Impossible III, Not Another Teen Movie, Rush Hour 1-3, Star Wars (all of 'em), Star Trek (All of 'em except V), The Terminator, Terminator 2, Transformers, xXx, xXX State of the Union, X-Men 1 & 2.

I'm probably forgetting a few. But as you can tell I'm fairly open minded, I try to give new shows a chance, and anytime a character hooks me, I'm in. I even liked the Elektra movie solely because the characters were rich and interesting, despite having a terrible plot. I'm a fairly easy mark for a good story, I get roped in pretty easily.

So that's me. Thanks for inviting me to write, Phil! Hope everyone enjoys having a new person aboard.

-Chris B.

Thanks for doing this post, It does help understand were you are coming from on certain shows.

It seems we watch many of the same T.V.shows with the exception of Ergo Proxy and Fastlane of which I have never heard off.

It seems thou hast made the cut.
    Welcome aboard.

usually decent shows get cancelled. They allowed only cheap generic shows to continue.

As the saying goes, either studios and execs are smoking something unfamiliar and nasty or doing it for the money.

Not to mention their habits of making half-assed mockeries.

@dreadtech - No sweat, glad to post! And it’s good to know we share a lot of interests, hopefully you’ll enjoy the posts. And Fastlane was a one season show that was broadcast on BOTH Fox and MTV, and it was great fun. It was a quasi-remake of Miami Vice but done with a very witty sense of humor and a lot of *fun* in the mix, and much, much better writing than Miami Vice - every episode was very self contained and every plot thread is covered smoothly. If you get bored, check out the series on Amazon, it’s cheap in a box set! Only downside is it was cancelled, so it ends in a small cliffhanger, but it’s still worth it.

    And B - I made the cut? Thanks, I think? :D

A lot of shows never make it over here in the UK and some shows that do such as Veronica Mars has only just started. I believe this show went for a few years and is several years old? So as you can see we do not get to see everything. Unfortunately a lot of these shows while are on DVD are not playable over here as we are in a different region code and are only released in region 1 (USA)

Still we probably get the ‘best’ shows and usually only a few weeks or months after there US release. the down side is some really good shows never make it and Ergo Proxy and Fastlane were two of them.

Thanks for your reply and you never know one day a cable network will pick them up over here.

Meant to say this in last post

” Only downside is it was cancelled, so it ends in a small cliffhanger”

Don’t you just hate it when that happens, If I could pass just 1 law it would be no show can end on a cliffhanger. LOL
