Spawn Live Action Sequel?
Todd McFarlane announced recently that he was going to be directing a new Live Action Spawn movie, rated R and is "extremely creepy". It won't cover any origins, it won't continue the first movie, but he's still writing it.
Most of us know that the first Spawn movie was, at best, a bad B film. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but it was so utterly cheesy that it couldn't even remotely be taken seriously. It felt like watching a "Hercules The Legendary Journeys" version of the comic. Since that time, Spawn's popularity has slowly dwindled to the point I don't even know if anyone's going to care anymore if he makes another movie.
It was a good idea at one time, but it's been driven into the ground. I'm not sure we should get another film. What do you guys think?

I’m something of an optimist. I like the Spawn idea. Id love to see another movie, a better one that actually tries to take itself seriously as opposed to a Raimi-Comedy take on the story.
However, I don’t actually think it should be done. McFarlane just needs to move on, take a chance on writing something new. It could succeed, it could suck, but it’d be something new.

If you want a bad-ass take on Spawn, I definitely recommend the HBO animated series. I’m such in idiot… I saw it at best buy for around $20 and I didn’t buy it. Next time I’m in there, or I shop off of Amazon, I’m buying it.
I love the Spawn idea myself, but if your comparing the first live-action Spawn movie to a “Raimi-Comedy” like Evil Dead…. your nuts.
