Warner Brothers being forced to make another Superman film by the courts!!
I've gone on record saying many times that I loved Superman Returns. I think it's an unfairly treated film that's totally underrated for it's quality. I'm not going to argue why it's such a good film because... really, what's the point.
Your probably aware that the production on another Superman film has been in limbo; in short, nobody knows what the deal is. In other news, a while back the family of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel sued Warner Bros. and DC Comics.
Here's the result thanks to Variety and Ain't It Cool News:
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have won a favorable ruling in the suit filed by the heirs of "Superman" co-creator Jerome Siegel.
In a decision announced Wednesday, U.S. Judge District Court Judge Stephen G. Larson found that the license fees the studio paid to corporate sibling DC Comics didn't represent "sweetheart" deals as they weren't below fair market value. That means the heirs will be able seek profits only from DC Comics -- which earned $13.6 million from Warner Bros. for the 2006 release of "Superman Returns" -- rather than from Warner Bros. as well.
The Court pointedly ruled that if Warner Bros. does not start production on another Superman film by 2011, the Siegels will be able to sue to recover their damages.
Ha! So if Warner doesn't produce a new Superman film by 2011, they could get sued! What to do!!! Hopefully that means they'll grab Bryan Singer and say, "Your Superman sequel is greenlit!"
This comes at an interesting time as well because Moviehole.net reported a few days back that Brandon Routh's (Superman) contract has expired.
"So legally, he's no longer wearing the Man of Steel badge," says the site. "He'd have to be re-approached. But if that day comes, he wouldn't 'think twice' about donning the tights again."
Recent talk has said a reboot may be on the way for Superman but I think I've made my position clear now and in the past - I'd like Singer to come back and do another film.
What are your thoughts? Any interpretations?

Everyone has his opinion. I know only one friend who at least likes Superman Returns “a little”. Me… I still think, it has some moments and Brandon Routh is perfect for the role. But still the film was IMO simply boring to me. It was a huge mistake not to reboot the franchize, or to continue with a better super-villain (or at least Luthor in some kind of an alien megasuit or something) and a much more action oriented story. I disliked the whole Krypton-Continent plot and the stupid Gene Hackman like Luthor.
I don’t care if Singer does the sequel or not. I believe he has learned from his mistakes he made with Superman Returns and won’t repeat them. Whoever’s doing it, I believe the sequel will be much better, except they do an action only film and forget all about the story. The important part is to merge story and action together so that it co-exists perfectly. Something that didn’t really worked out in Star Trek. That one had action without any meaning (those two beasts on Delta Vega for example).
I hope for the best, since I like that alien reporter a lot.
