Star Wars live-action series in pre-production??
For over a year, word about a live-action Star Wars television series was all over the Internet. George Lucas and producer Rick McCallum have stated many times that the series is being worked on but isn't near shooting yet, however, it is now being reported by SciFi Wire that the series is currently in pre-production.
"...The show is assembling high-quality writers from the Aussie TV industry, including writers from Love My Way and Secret Life of Us, who have been approached by Lucas' longtime producer Rick McCallum," said the site. "The as-yet-untitled series is supposedly set to debut in 2010, though there has been no word of a distributor yet."
Lucas has, without a doubt, big plans for this television series with this series running up to 400 episodes, apparently, at least according to McCallum. Also, there is room for the TV series to create spin-offs for different characters. As a of now, all we know is the series will take place between Episodes III and IV, however, new and different characters will be use, not the main characters from the films but Lucas has stated cameos are possible.
Saying that I'm extremely excited to see this series would be an understatement. Currently, all I have to watch in the Star Wars universe is the incredible animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which has a bad rap from adult fans, ... well, except from me. I love that show.
