Nimrod Antal to direct Predators!

Most people probably don't know who Nimród Antal is - don't worry, neither do I. His only American feature film released has been Vacancy starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson, a film that received average reviews. His next film, Armored, may be the reason he got his next gig.

For the past few weeks, names and names have been circulating around the Internet on who would be directing Predators, Robert Rodriguez's reboot of the popular franchise. Now according to Ain't It Cool News, Rodriguez has made his final decision.

While talking to Harry from AICN, "after Robert saw Armored, which Screen Gems is releasing this holiday season, he told me he was very excited about Nimród Antal."

Harry went on to ask Rodriguez several questions about Predators - a Q&A your better off reading at AICN. In the short interview, he talks about the process up to this point, what they're aiming for, and of course Antal. The thing that grabs me, FOX, who's distributing this film, is very much behind Rodriguez and their goal is to make a film that doesn't feel like a studio film - something outside of the studio bringing a more independent feel. Interesting; but I'll hold all opinions until I actually see Predators.

Antal's next film, Armored, which is being release in September, looks like it's going to be a pretty great thriller. You can see the trailer just below.

So does anyone have any thoughts on Antal directing Predators? Is there a chance this franchise can be ressurected after the two disasters called AVP?
