Original District 9 short film
This is actually the first time I've seen this. I'm sure by now, most of you are well aware of the Neill Blomkamp film District 9 which is coming out in several weeks. What I didn't know is that Blomkamp made a short film, which I'm guessing he used to show to studios, producers, etc. The short film is pretty fantastic and gives me very high hopes to what the feature film can turn out to be.
Blomkamp is also the direct that is attached to a Halo film, but when that news came out I wasn't that impressed because this guy has never made a feature film, at least at the time I said that, and I didn't think he could handle something so massive as Halo. Sure, anyone can make it look cool but can Blomkamp actually tell a story? From what I can tell from this short film, he sure as hell can. I'm very excited to see the full film and if it's critically acclaimed, there's a good chance a greenlit on Halo will finally come.

District 9 is set to premiere August 14th.
