Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is Cancelled!

Here it is, the day that I long feared and it's finally come to pass.  Just like John Connor, fans of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles wanted to avoid Judgment Day but it's here and it's fitting given that the war starts this Friday with the premiere of Terminator Salvation.

From websites all across the net, Terminator: TSCC has indeed been canceled although official FOX word has still yet to come, however, multiple sources have confirmed FOX has once again canceled one of the best shows on television.

As of yet, there is nothing to quote from but if you want to depress yourself, your free to visit TV By The Numbers or EW.com and although I'd like to keep hope for the official FOX announcement, I'm inclined to believe TSCC is gone from us and it's BULLSHIT!

I'm about to go on a serious rant of how much I hate the FOX network - I'm really angry for Christ sake!  I'm going to contain my anger and not create an essay but I will say that I'm boycotting FOX.  That means, I'm not longer watching any of their products live or on their website.  In fact, I'm going to watch everything via other means - means that will not help their causes.  Screw them I say.  Sure, I'm still going to watch Fringe and Dollhouse but it's not going to be on Fox.com or Hulu.  I don't even want to buy FOX products anymore because they don't deserve my cash.  I'm willing to by used DVD sets - at least that way my cash is going to go to the person I bought it from and not FOX.  They can kiss my ass as far as I'm concerned.  And I'm glad Wolverine was a garbage movie!

Not for nothing, I love Dollhouse and I'm glad it was renewed, but TSCC is a tremendously better show.  The difference in the ratings wasn't even by much and TSCC DVR ratings were way better as well.  WTF ever!

Some think that the Terminator show-runner Josh Friedman is to blame.  Lanie Grace over at FMQINC.com has a fantastic article that talks about the rise of Summer Glau's character Cameron being the cause of Friedman's betrayal.  In the article, she says that since the fans and even FOX love Summer Glau so much, Friedman shit himself because he wants the show to be about Sarah Connor and not Cameron - hence killing Cameron for a weak human named Allison.  Seriously, I really suggest the heading over there for the read.  It's great.

The official word should come out at some point today.   If FOX gives their reasons, I'll post about it but the reason will probably be lame.

Man, if all of this is wrong and TSCC is renewed, I'm going to piss myself but sadly we're screwed!

-Phil

I’m going to miss Summer Glau’s Cameron almost as much as I missed Kirsten Bell’s Veronica Mars. This really sucks!
With so much crap on TV that they could cancel…

They should have canceled Dollhouse instead. Terminator was much better. It’s sad.

The fact that they renewed Dollhouse and not TSCC infuriates me no end. TSCC was a superior show in terms of writing and acting, and as you pointed out, their ratings were both low. While I enjoyed Dollhouse, it was hardly “must see TV”. Whereas, I couldn’t wait to see the next episode of TSCC every week.

And I blame Friedman as well. The *six episode long* introspective Sarah story arc that he decided to book end the mid-season hiatus with is what effectively killed the show. Combine that with his admission that Fox advised him against it and he did it anyway, I’m sure the execs took a perverse joy in telling him “I told you so” as they showed him the door.

A show can be thoughtful, it can even be slow-burning, but it must also be engaging. Unless you were someone who thought Sarah was the greatest thing about the show, and didn’t give a crap about the cast or the ongoing plot, that storyline failed to be that. Instead it drug itself out as the writers found new ways to make Sarah become more and more unstable until it culminated in an “epiphany” episode that was literally all a dream.

    Goodbye, TSCC. You’ll be missed.

I would have to agree, even though i liked all the episodes, that they should have stomped on the gas earlier. Which I think for shows like this you really need to have the entire season written out not just roughly plotted out before the first day of filming.

According to most reports the main reason Dollhouse is coming back is that Joss promised to do more with a lot less cash. And with where TSCC looked to be heading, I don’t see how they could have done any “future” scenes on even less money.

And with Life being canceled, I’m so close to being a movie only guy.

    well its official.
the end of my tv world as i know it.
though there are one or two shows comming we will always be wondering.
i have said Dollhouse done nothing for me but i will watch to see what happens.
im going to get in my mourning suit and watch all The TSCC again.
Cameron you will be sadly missed RIP ……………………..

Not surprised by this at all, In fact it is more surprising that more shows get renewed.
So many people download shows before it has aired on TV, so do not watch it when it does air. This drops viewing figures so shows get canned. Who’s to blame? we are the viewers.

More downloaded TSCC than dollhouse. So while Dollhouse is not as popular, it just seems that way when looking at official viewing figures.

TSCC started off okay.It soon degenerated into a drawn out series of ridiculous storylines. The plot seems to have been abandoned completely,in favour of cheap storylines.
I’m glad it’s been cancelled. It’s like so many American tv shows.Lost,CSI,Chuck etc etc just endless mind numbing crap to support the advertisers.
