Quick quick thoughts on the finale of The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I just wanted to leave a couple of quick comments of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles before I post a full review on Monday.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! The last 15 minutes of that episode was better than the finale of Battlestar Galactica as a whole! For christ sake - Summer was... exposed for a lack of a better term and the make-up was incredilbe.
Do you know what the best thing is - yea bitches, Derek Reese is alive and well in the future! So is Kyle! John meets his dad - holy shit! And WTF! Allison!
THE FUTURE WITHOUT JOHN CONNOR!!
Jesus....
Seriously...
Why would you cancel a show with quality writing and story telling like this. This shit is about to get even cooler than what we've been getting.
Wow! I'll post a full season finale review on Monday. Right now I need to let this all settle in and watch the episode again over the weekend. Hopefully when the Nielsen shit reports come out late Saturday, TSCC will have a huge boost. This show deserves more than what it gets and if FOX decides to axe this quality show, with luck, some media mogul will pick it up and continue to give us greatness.
Oh and we got to see the full length trailer of T4 - that was pretty cool. Especially on a 52 inch HD!
By the way, Dollhouse was awesome too.

OMG im still shaking.
that was fucking awsome.
and so it comes full circle.
if they dont do another season it will be the crime of the century.
if you thinkabout it to hard you will blow………………
why is the dyson boy missing and why ws the 888 after the daughter
A good start to another season i think.
I loved it.
And for all the Jameron fans, John gets to meet Allison Young. His true love. And no hentai robot sex weirdness necessary.
We have to accept there’s probably no Season 3 and Josh Friedman obviously knows that. He’s done the decent thing and wrapped it up as best he can in the screentime available. I thought it was all wrapped up pretty well. A much more satisfying finale to a TV series than so many we could name.
Sarah’s story… well, either you like it or you don’t. She’s still running, fighting Skynet to stop Judgment Day, it’s all she knows, it’s all she can do. Why didn’t she stay in the time bubble? If indeed she is dying of cancer, a trip to the future isn’t going to help either of them. John will come back for her or send for her if it’s the right thing to do. If Sarah is indeed ill, she has to seek out medical care not available after Judgment Day.
If, against all odds, they do manage to secure a Season 3 then it’s Sarah and whoever future!John sends back thru time to aid and comfort her. Note, we don’t know where in future time John is: is he before the events of future!Cameron and future!Derek we’ve seen so far or is he in a different timeline caused by the time jump? My hypothesis (which can only be confirmed should a Season 3 arrive against all odds) is that John has jumped to before Kyle was sent back to father John, i.e. before the events of the future depicted in Terminator the original film. I omit a detailed exposition as to why I believe this to be the case, I leave that as an exercise for the reader to ponder re the different consequences of forward vs backwards time travel, but the main point is that this preserves Sarah’s personal timeline (and, for instance, Derek’s death) as we’ve seen it in The Sarah Connor Chronicles and T1 & T2 - jumping forward does not require a different timeline to be established for events prior to the jump (here in TSCC universe, we know characters from the future have memories of different timelines, only Sarah’s memories of the past require to be preserved for logical consistency). Strictly speaking, because it’s the future, the scene of John & Derek & Allison we saw doesn’t have to be in Sarah’s timeline since it’s her future but it would be a rather pointless piece of exposition if it wasn’t a core unchangeable (in Sarah’s timeline) event.
Great finale, but part of me thinks this is what the show runners were really aiming for, a clean break from the old mythos. Anything and everything is open game now.
And my vote for biggest OMG moment (besides when the Spanish chick actually talked) when she relayed the question “Will you join us?”
This was their best episode ever. I’ll admit, my faith had wavered when they killed Derek last week on top of everything else. I was wrong, though. I was SO wrong. This… was amazing. I *NEED* more of this show, dammit. Its ratings my suck, but its #1 in iTunes downloads and highly placed in other digital outlets as well. I only hope and pray that will count for something.
woodymcnab: I bet the 888 is after Savannah for the most classical reason ever; now that John Connor never stayed in the past/present to become leader of the resistance, she’ll end up playing a similarly significant role. Perhaps due to the influence of Sarah and Ellison.
Bet’cha John will meet her in the future
What’d be even more awesome was if Sarah survived and got to be leader alongside Savannah, but that’ll likely never happen..
What bugged my little nitpicking proclivity would’ve been when Weaver and John hopped to the future. Perhaps they opted to show it a few seconds after the jump, but shouldn’t Weaver, being a T1000, come through as a metallic blob? Why naked, I thought that only applied to cyborgs and humans, where the skin isn’t artificial?
pure unadulterated AWESOME. I’m blown away.
