Amanda Tapping talks Sanctuary and upcoming Stargate movies
While at the SciFi Channel Upfronts, Amanda Tapping spoke with SciFi Wire about her current series Sanctuary and the upcoming Stargate Atlantis and SG-1 DVD films, but it's not much.
With season two of Sanctuary on the way Tapping says she'd, "love to see a bit more into [Helen Magnus'] backstory, maybe go back in time a little bit with her and see what shaped her. We're definitely going to be doing more interaction between the characters. We're bringing some characters forward a bit more. There's a lot of stuff happening in season two."
All of that sound great, but I'm still struggling to watch Sanctuary. Sure, I think the first season got better as the episodes went on but I think it's safe to say it wasn't the greatest that television had to offer. Still, people watched Sanctuary which is the reason why a second season has been greenlit. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe a good season of Sanctuary is on the way. The concept of the show is fantastic, but the execution needs some work - starting with more excitement and no more episodes like Kush. Plus, we need more Ashley in super tight or revealing cloths.
When it comes to the Stargate franchise, it sounds like Tapping doesn't know anything about it but I'm guessing she's just not willing to say all that much. When asked if she started to film the Atlantis movie, "We haven't, actually. And apparently there's an SG-1 movie as well that will be happening."

“Sanctuary” is consistently mediocre. Magnus should be a much darker character, she’s a Dr Frankenstein playing God. It could be so much better, Amanda has the acting chops I reckon.

I liked Sanctuary a lot and I’m still waiting for a Blu-ray release.
And for Stargate. Lets skip those Atlantis movies and do some more SG1.

what? “consistently mediocre” I can belive it … sanctuary is the best serie since stargate whit story, characters and much more … Is super… amanda tapping is my favourite actress, samantha,helen, whatever she always looks wonderfull … I so sorry but amanda is the best
I don’t agree with mediocre assessment either. It’s great television and I love the series. I’m currently on episode 10 and was happy to find out there will be a second season. All the actors in the show are great, the concept is terrific, and I think each show is very well executed. It’s fast becoming a top favorite show of mine. And people watch TV shows for a reason - they like them. That’s why there will be a season two. Great series! Highly under-appreciated, apparently.
