Sam Raimi talks about an Evil Dead remake & Spider-Man 4

Director Sam Raimi is currently at SXSW (South by South West film fest) promoting and showing an early cut of his new film Drag Me To Hell, which you can see the trailer HERE. While there he spoke about Spider-Man 4 and where he's currently at, and the possible Evil Dead remake which nobody wants to see - we all want a sequel.
Starting with Evil Dead:
"I have talked with my partners about having a young director come in and remake Evil Dead," Raimi tells IGN. "That film was made in 16mm on a shoestring budget and blown up to 35mm. The visual effects are crumby, it was done in mono, not even stereo, let alone 5.1. What you could do with it now would be so much better."
Isn't that what makes Evil Dead so awesome? I think people know that lower budget films usually turn to be better movies, in some cases. What? Your gonna make a big budget summer blockbuster out of this, ... or whatever. Nah...
"I think if you had a new director using the full power of 35 mm and 5.1 sound, you could really make a pretty socko presentation," he continues. "It was always meant for the big screen, but never really seen on the big screen."
I can understand that he wants people to see Evil Dead on the big screen but not at the cost of remaking a cinematic classic, ... please! Thankfully, he doesn't rule out making Evil Dead 4. Raimi says, "Like any movie it's hard to say if you want to do it or if you don't want to do it until there is a script to talk about. So one day I hope to have the time to write a script, and if that happens I'm hoping that Bruce will change his mind."
Bruce Campbell is now hesitant on doing a fourth film ever since all of the backlash from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
On to Spider-Man:
"The writers, producers and I are working out what the story will be, but haven't been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5," Raimi tells MTV. "I've read that [about Spider-Man 5] also, but right now we're just working on the story for 'Spider-Man 4,' just that one film."
Raimi is referring to the rumors about doing a 4th and 5th film together. Thankfully, however, Raimi actually plans to stick to source material and not make another disaster of a film like Spider-Man 3. He says, "We're definitely talking about working from all the material in the comic books and nothing [invented] outside of that. All the characters or villain or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee's creations or those that came after him."
He also quickly mentions Kirsten Dunst's involvement. As of right now she's not signed to reprise her role of Mary Jane - "I can't imagine making a 'Spider-Man' movie without Kirsten," the director says. "Of course it can be done [without her] because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary-Jane but she's one of my favorite parts and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I'm hoping she'll be in it and I'm planning on having a story with her in it."
Whatever happens, I hope Raimi redeems the franchise after the abomination called Spider-Man 3. I don't know about you but the third film really ruined the franchise for me - it's really that bad, however, I still think Raimi is a fantastic director and I'm expecting something pretty cool from the next film, ... hopefully.
