Vin Diesel dishes some details on Riddick 3

A couple of days ago, actor Vin Diesel made mention that Chronicles of Riddick 3 was currently being written.  While promoting his new video game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Diesel gave SciFi Wire some details on the upcoming sequel.

"We're going to find Riddick alone for the first part of the movie, barely alive, surrounded by carnivorous monsters who are trying to eat him," Diesel said.  "So you'll see a futuristic Rambo-esque Riddick trying to survive."

"David Twohy is scripting the next installment of Riddick as we speak, and it's underway," he continues.  "The story will return to a Pitch Black [sensibility] while servicing the mythology that's been enhanced in Chronicles of Riddick."

Basically, Diesel is saying that the third film is not going to be a big budget film like the second film - it's going to be more contained just like Pitch Black and I think that's cool, I just don't want it to be a disappointment.  I don't know what that means for the Necromongers, but as long as it's violent, looks awesome and all that, I'm sure it'll be cool.

To read the full story, head over to SciFi Wire.

    RIDDICK RUUUUULEZ!!!

Is that possible? There comes a movie with a new approach to SciFi in it and it fails at the box-office. I don’t get it.
Take some Conan, mix it up with Dune-like-SciFi, add some Action, come up with a good and solid story and you get Riddick. This movie was totally awesome. I own the DVD, but I will also buy the Blu-Ray soon. It’ simply a MUST HAVE for me!

I hope that the sequel will be of the same quality. Go on Vin! Make my day!
