Star Trek: My thoughts on the new trailer
Get ready for the beginning.
In just 2 months, I'll be sitting in front of the big screen watching the premiere of my most anticipated movie for this year - Star Trek. On Saturday, I posted up the new trailer which is currently in front of Watchmen. Today, in this post, I'm going to post a bunch of HD screen shots from the trailer commenting on each of the screen caps.
To simply put it and in short, the new Star Trek trailer is one of the most incredible trailers I've ever seen, and yes I'm bias because I love ST, and since that's the case, the geek electricity is flowing through my veins.
If you haven't seen the trailer yet, here's your opportunity. You can see it in high def over at Apple but if you want to see it right now, look just below. The international UK trailer actually has like 2 seconds more footage so you'll be seeing that one:
Here is a new description for the film:
One grew up in the cornfields of Iowa, fighting for his independence, for a way out of a life that promised only indifference, aimlessness, and obscurity
The other grew up on the jagged cliffs of the harsh Vulcan desert, fighting for acceptance, for a way to reconcile the logic he was taught with the emotions he felt.
In the far reaches of the galaxy, a machine of war bursts into existence in a place and time it was never meant to be. On a mission of retribution of the destruction of his planet, its half-mad captain seeks the death of every intelligent being, and the annihilation of every civilized world.
Kirk and Spock, two completely different and unyielding personalities, must find a way to lead the only crew, aboard the only ship, that can stop him. [Trek Movie]
Lets take a look at the caps where I'll just throw a couple of comments at you.

Is it just me, or does Chris Pine have that young Bill Shatner smile? That might be far out there but that's the first reaction I got from this capture.
Bruce Greenwood is great! He was in the first Rambo film as "guards man", lol. He's gonna make a great Captain Pike.
James T. Kirk isn't the only hero in the family, ... at least in this timeline, as we see his father George Kirk in battle with Nero. The Phaser fire from the USS Kelvin looks fantastic. It may look a little different from what we ST fans are used to but it still looks friggin cool.
Kirk's mom is officially a MILF. Anyhow, what a life baby Kirk is going to have...
I honestly love that shot of Kirk looking at the Enterprise being built. It's really has so much character personality coming out of that cap.
Ah, Starfleet Academy - where so many legendary Captain's began or in this case, begins. Seeing the emblem of The United Federation of Planets again is really satisfying for a Star Trek fan.
There's so much history behind these two characters. It's exciting to see them both with a determined look on their faces.
FEARLESS!
Nero travels in style. We have yet to see what his ship looks like in its entirety but however big it is, it looks really mean.
The visual effects alone look insane. The imploding planet SPOILER? [HIGHLIGHT] Romulus looks fantastic. Don't quote me on that, however, because I honestly don't know if that planet is the planet I'm thinking of. If you've been reading spoilers, one just came out that suggests why Nero has gone mad.
Together again!
Captain James T. Kirk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The greatest starship commander in Federation history.
Get used to it Kirk. There's a Klingon prison that has your name written on it.
Oh man! ... Nero's f-ked!
How does a Vulcan deal with emotions? This huge isn't logical.
...especially since Vulcan is under attack!
wow... legends.
"You got him Jim, you got him where you want him!"
Sulu looks like a total bad ass! Kick his ass Sulu!
I love the line Nero says - "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another life."
Uhura is hot...
That's the finest ass I've ever seen.
The Enterprise can take whatever Nero's got. Bring it sucka's.
I think that's George Kirk. Daddy's dead Jimmy boy.
Do you think they'll play the Orion slave girl theme for TOS during this scene? Probably not but it would be totally cool.
The USS Kelvin takes a big beating!

The imploding planet is NOT Romulus. Based on all indications, it’s Vulcan, right after Nero drills it to death.
