TV week in Review: Quick Thoughts

Quick Thoughs on Knight Rider, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Crusoe - spoilers.

Fringe is coming back this week, and Battlestar Galactica will be added to Quick Thoughs weekly now.

Knight Rider - Day Turns Into Knight

CRAP!! I thought Carrie bought it.... but at least she can't "work in the field" anymore, which means bye bye. God, I hated her character.

This week brings us the big change in direction that Knight Rider is going to take, up until it gets cancelled - NBC said Knight Rider is unlikely to get another season but I think everyone knew that. The conclusion to a 2--parter: Can Michael, KITT, and Sarah defuse a bomb, save the Ambassador, and do all of the other action oriented things in this episode? The answer is hell yeah, but at a cost.

I think it's safe to say that this was the most exciting episode yet this season, yes? any agreements? I read a post at some site (don't remember which) that Knight Rider is a failure because they made it into the cheesy Batman of the 60's. That's a comment I sort of can't agree with although I understand it completely - Everyone loved 60's Batman and if indeed Knight Rider is that... It makes sense that it doesn't work in today's standards but is Knight Rider that bad? I don't think so. Sure, it's not a very good written show with a plot deep like Battlestar Galactica, but it does have a lot of action as shown in the episode. That's the strongest thing Knight Rider has going for itself.

Just a few things to point out about this episode: How did Carrie survive that size of a blast? I don't know about you, but I think that was impossible she lived; in fact, it probably would have been better if she died in that blast because, honestly, it made more sense.

I love the end where Mike kills everyone... yea, that was bad ass.

Last week I pointed out that Hank the Robot was a pointless plot but it might have something to do with the 2-parter overall which it indeed it did. Hank saved everyone by being there to help out with the bomb. Good Job HANK!

I've said before in a post a couple of weeks back that I'm tired of seeing Bruce Davison. He's everywhere and it's getting to the point where I don't want to see him anymore, however, I found myself surprised when he was killed. I kind of liked his character... oh, well.

Do you know what the best part of this episode is? Let me ask you this - Who's the black private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks...? That's right, it's Shaft himself. Mr. Richard Roundtree. If something needs to be resurrected, it should be a new Shaft television series with Roundtree as a Captain or an Inspector or something. I'd watch that. Anyways, part of me was half expecting so see Carrie's real father show up to play her characters father. If you didn't know, the Oscar winning actor Sydney Poitier is her dad - he needs to give her acting lessons. You can actually see a picture of the both of them, HERE.

It's not long until the season ends so get your Knight Rider fill because this is it, and probably will be the last incarnation of Knight Rider for a very long time. Next week Optimus Prim..... I mean KARR. Watch the preview and you'll understand.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Jedi Crash

I honestly don't understand people who say The Clone Wars suck... I really don't because this show is amazing. It's not amazing where it has a plot that's Oscar worthy, it's just amazing because it's visually kick ass and it's really a lot more fun than anything else on TV like reality shows.

This week introduces another Jedi that had a small role in the films, the greenish blue, strangely attractive, Aayla Secura. Secura's fleet is under attack by Separatist forces - Anakin's fleet sets to aid in the battle but during the fight Anakin is gravely injured. After Secura, Ahsoka, injured Anakin, and several Clone Troopers crash land on a planet, they seek rescue and aid from a peaceful people but will they make it in time to save Anakin?.... and that's a stupid question because we know that they do... but whatever.

I'll say this - What an amazing opening to this episode!!!!!! Seriously, that kicked ass! The opening battle in the atmosphere of a planet with blasters, flying droids, light saber shit... That's why I love The Clone Wars. After all of that, the excitement level drops a little and we see a lot of running.... that about sums it up. But it's good!

I might be the only one, but the person who voiced Aayla - a French voice? Really? ehh, it didn't work for me and it wasn't the kind of voice I was expecting. Than again, I don't know what kind of voice I was expecting, just not that.

Did anyone notice that when Anakin was on the ship with the breathing mask on he sounded like Darth Vader. That was cool.

Next week continues the adventure and it looks just as entertaining as this weeks ep. I wish they aired two episodes back to back for a full hour. This show deserves that.

Crusoe - The Hunting Party

The first and only season of Crusoe is nearing its end with just 2 episodes left. NBC has refused another season order, which is too bad because I really am enjoying the season but from the looks of things Crusoe and Friday may make it off the Island anyhow. I actually thought that this show was sort of a season long mini-series but I guess not, however, if it ends with Crusoe getting home to his wife again than that's how it may look.

This week Crusoe and Friday have to deal with an ancient tribe of warriors who want Crusoe dead. The tribe King wants revenge on the white man because of slave owning during that time period and what a better target than Crusoe. After trying to convince them that they are best friends and brothers, the King pits them against eachother only to escape to have the final battle at the treehouse.

I really do like this show because of it's sheer fun aspect. This episode was actually more violent, considering, than the other episodes. Both Crusoe and Friday had to kick some ass this week to survive and that they did.

We also saw for the first time the "Friday effect", lol, which I thought was amusing.

On the other side of things, we're seeing more of the current happenings with Susannah. Santana came to her to tell her his story and after some convincing she tells Blackthorne that she wants to go find her husband. Long story short she signs the children over to Blackthorne and problems arise, however, she has a friend which she doesn't know about. Olivia has returned to England to play "The Crying Game" with her fake beard. At this point we don't know what's going to happen but I look forward to the next two episodes.

Crusoe is produced by a British studio with American financing, I believe, but if NBC doesn't want any more seasons, why don't they go to the BBC or something? Hmm, maybe they'll be more news in the future.
