Best 2008 movie score
If you haven't noticed during the past couple of months every Monday I post a certain score from a movie or television show that I admire and now with the year 2008 coming to a close it's time to choose my personal favorite score of the year. I love scores and soundtracks, that's why I post about them every Monday but if you've noticed the past few weeks I've been posting different music because of the holidays but starting this Monday we'll be back to our regular Scores & Soundtracks.
Now that I'm finished rambling lets get to my favorite score of 2008. I've seen tons of movies this year, more than I ever have but I can honestly say that there hasn't been a score that really hit me as something spectacular. Sure there has been some great music coming from some fantastic composers but in the end, I decided only to choose one. So after thinking about it for several days I came to the easy conclusion that the best score of 2008 is The Dark Knight from Hanz Zimmer and James Newton Howard. I doubt it's a surprise to some of you.

The Dark Knight score is bad ass is a bunch of ways - It every time I hear the second track "I'm Not A Hero", I feel the need to go out and beat people up and fight crime... well not really, but it fires me up. Right from the start of that track you can't help but think "oh shit... Batman is coming".
I'm not going to post the entire soundtrack for you but if you haven't heard or bought this soundtrack I highly recommend it. Here are a couple of tracks from the score - the tracks I think are the best:
THE DARK KNIGHT
I'm Not A Hero
Like A Dog Chasing Cars
A Dark Knight
The Runner up for 2008 is Michael Giacchino's score from Cloverfield:
Roar!

Oooo Scores. So many this year to consider, so many to think about…
I’d say Dark Knight was probably my number 2 of the year - I listend to it for about 2 weeks straight. I agree with all that you said though, it’s remarkable.
I think *overall* though, I preferred the Incredible Hulk special edition score. That thing really had a lot of kick-ass themes, a lot of amazing wellsprings of energy.
I also think some scores this year deserve honorable mention - The Torchwood score was ****ing remarkable. The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, for obvious reasons (a second and third relisten have me more enamoured of the score), the Wanted score was quite good, Stargate: The Ark of Truth score (I THINK that was released this year? Maybe it was older, but I think not) was TOTALLY amazing, and of course the Witchblade TV series score was released this year which I am obviously biased for
Anyway, thanks for talking about scores, so few people do. If you need to test-listen to some before buying let me know and I can share.
