Disney finished with Narnia franchise - won’t finance next film
I've said several times that the Narnia films are only alright at best. They may make great books for people but when it comes to the film franchise I don't think anyone is really impressed - I'm not... not at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the movies but they lack a lot mainly feeling and they make me feel the production team basically went through the movie making steps to make a film. They didn't do anything to wow me and in some cases, it seems like another movie trying to be another Lord of the Rings. Besides all of that, they don't make big money. Prince Caspian was a domestic box office faliure.
Word has come out from The Hollywood Reporter that Disney will not finance a third Narnia film, however, Walden Media still has plans to continue on with the new film Voyage of the Dawn Treader with financing from some place else, so it's not all in the dumper for Narnia fans. As of now Walden is going to shop around Dawn Treader and the rumor is that FOX is the likely candidate at this time.
Read the full story over at THR - but I'll honestly say that I'm not interested in anymore Narnia films.
