Hugh Jackman to host the 81st Academy Awards
This caught me by surprise but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have hired Wolverine and recently Australia star Hugh Jackman to host the 81st Academy Awards.
"Hugh Jackman is a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star," Laurence Mark and BIll Condon said in a joint statement, producer and executive producer. "He also has a style, elegance and a sense of occasion. Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year's movies - and to have fun doing it."
This is interesting because Jackman is obviously not a comedian or comedic actor, however, he's charming and everyone knows it... admit it. I can't say that I'm disappointed because I've never seen him host a show like this so I'll gladly give him a chance and see what he can do. After all, better him than Ellen Degeneres again who I think is the Oscars worst host in history.
Jackman once hosted the Tony Awards and from what I hear he was very good and entertaining but I didn't see it so I don't know. Even so, here is a clip of Hugh Jackman hosting the Tony Awards.
So what do yo think? Will Jackman be a good host? I think he has a fair chance; lets just hope that the actors don't go on strike because that would ruin the Oscars.
