Heavy Metal returns to Paramount?; Snyder & Verbinski confirmed

An updated Heavy Metal film is something that I've eagerly been waiting for.  It doesn't get more kick ass science fiction than Heavy Metal and for several months we've been hearing word that David Fincher has been trying to put together the project for Paramount.  Back during the beginning of September I put up a post with an interview with the owner of Heavy Metal Kevin Eastman.  Where he spoke on why Paramount pulled out of Heavy Metal at the time.  You can read that HERE.

Eastman now gives us the update by simply saying, "...looks like it might end up back at Paramount--gotta love Hollywood."  That's for sure.  Hollywood is a strange place.  That's not all however.  In that same post I put up in September Eastman also mentioned that a couple of big name directors could be joining Fincher in directing one of their own segments.  "The good news I have to share is Zack Snyder has said yes to directing one of the segments--so he's be joining Fincher, and Gore Verbinski as part of the official line up."  He also says there is going to be more on the directors but he's holding off for now.  You'll recognize Snyder's work from 300 and the upcoming Watchmen.  Verbinski is the director behind the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

So I'm pumped.  Having those directors aboard who are visionaries in their own right is huge and will prove to be awesome for the anthology that is Heavy Metal.  I'm really curious to know what other directors they have on a hook.  Mentioned in the past article was Guillermo del Toro but he's busy with The Hobbit films so it's doubtful he'll do this.  I'd love to see Chris Nolan or Darren Aronofsky pitch in.  That would be massive...  Actually, I'd love to see something from Ridley Scott but I'm dreaming with that.
