Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2
Recasting of actors is always an unusual thing for the audience but since Iron Man 2 isn't coming out for a couple of years, it might work out just fine. All that aside, if your going to replace an actor, Don Cheadle is always a massive plus.
We all know that another Iron Man film is on the way and Jon Favreau is returning to direct with Robert Downey Jr. returning as Tony Stark. You'll remember that in Iron Man Terrence Howard played Col. James "Rodey" Rhodes who eventually becomes War Machine. He had a big part in the film as Starks best friend.
Apparently during negotiations for the sequel, Howard dropped out "over financial differences" and now has been replaced. According to the trades, "Don Cheadle is stepping in to replace Terrence Howard in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2."
This is the thing that makes me laugh about actors. I'm sure Howard was offered a couple of million bucks for a couple of months of work in a highly noticeable film. I guess it wasn't enough cash for him. Howard is an excellent actor and he was just fine in Iron Man but with Cheadle replacing him... only good things can come of it. I don't know why he wasn't their first pick to begin with. Cheadle is a huge underrated actor that I think never gets the credit he deserves. This is exciting news and I'm looking forward to seeing him in a couple of years.
