McG Wants To Remake Blade Runner?

5 September 2008 No Comment

First off, don’t worry, it’s not going to happen.

Thanks to MovieHole.net we find out that Terminator Salvation director McG mentioned he’d like to work with Halycon founders Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek again on another film.  Halycon is producing Terminator.

“McG mentioned he’d love to work with the boys agian on something, remarking that he’s made ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, the Philip K. Dick novel that inspired Ridley Scott’s cult masterpiece ‘Blade Runner’ (1982), required reading on set, adding ‘That would be a good one’, McG tells variety.”

First Halycon doesn’t own the rights to Blade Runner, so it would be possible to begin with.  Second, it’s bad enough that I don’t like McG directing a Terminator film; It would be tourture if he had to destroy Blade Runner.  Remaking Blade Runner is just as stupid an idea as remaking Highlander.
