Hercules: The Beginning
Another adaptation of Hercules is on the way coming from actor/producer Alexander Nevsky. There has been rumors of this for a couple of weeks now but nothing big enough to post about until today.
The trades are reporting that Sheldon Lettich has been hired to develop Hercules: The Beginning for Nevsky who’ll star in the film. “The move comes at a time when Universal Pictures and Nu Image/Millennium productions are also planning projects based on the Greek hero,” says Variety.
Lettich wrote the scripts for some late 80s early 90s action films like Rambo III and a couple of Jean-Claude Van Damme movies like Bloodsport (awesome movie), Lionheart, Double Impact and Legionnaire.
At first glance, I’d say this movie isn’t going to be good but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a sucker for movies like this especially when it has to do with Greek Myth. The truth is however, what I really want is a Hercules and Xena movie with Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless. That would be the greatest thing ever, yes I’m a fan. They should do the same thing like they did with Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in the beginning. Make 4 or 5 TV movies with the characters on adventures.

I LOVED the 5 two hour ‘Hercules and the…’ telemovies. Better than the series actually (with the exception of Xena and Autolycus of course). Something about it was just better; it also was less “campy”.
But I want a Xena more than anything. I say a title like ‘The Warrior Princess’ (2009) would send me to the moon
