David Fincher’s Heavy Metal Brings In Big Time Directors

The cover above is from this months issue of Heavy Metal Magazine.
It's been several months now that we've been hearing rumblings that David Fincher who recently directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was looking to do a 3rd Heavy Metal film. Only a month ago or so, word came out that Paramount completely dropped Heavy Metal because it's to erotic, sexy and violent for them but that turned out to be a lie. Kevin Eastman, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and owner of Heavy Metal told RGBFilter that Paramount dropped it because they're pissed at David Fincher. Long story short; they want Fincher to cut Benjamin Button shorter but he doesn't want to so Paramount said screw you we're not going to do Heavy Metal so in return Fincher said kiss my ass I'll go somewhere else. So that's what he did, on to Sony.
Eastman revealed that Heavy Metal is currently being worked on and it's going to be an anthology like the first film with each segment being directed by a different director, Fincher is expect to direct a segment. Eastmen also revealed that kick ass directors want to join in the fun and direct segments; Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy I & II, Pan's Labyrinth) and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean). Take a look at the really great interview just below:
So how amazing is that. Zack Snyder is awesome, del Toro kicks ass, Verbinski is cool. With those caliber directors helming each segment, Heavy Metal is bound to be fantastic. I'm totally pumped for this to get made and I'm confident in it's end result. As long as they keep Heavy Metal what it is, very violent, very sexy and erotic, they can't fail.
It's also mention that Blur is going to be working on the animation and if you look below you can see their sample reel of their work. It's worth watching and it adds more hope to the result of this movie.
