A Live Action TMNT Really Is In The Works

3 September 2008 No Comment

A while back it was rumored that another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film was going to get made but it was going to be live-action again and not CG animated like the last movie.

TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman confirmed over at HeavyMetal.com that they are really in talks to Warners for a live action film.  “Yes, it is true,” he says.  “Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequle, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better “re-invention (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT’s, in a live action film-like what was done with Batman.  Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc…there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original ‘first’ TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right-but no official word yet…will keep you posted.  Best, Kevin.”

So there you have it.  Another TMNT live-action is a big possibility.  I can’t say I’m upset because I’m cool with that but the animated film is really good and I would have been fine if they continued that story in that format.  Writing about it makes me want to watch it again… I really like that movie.
