Hell Ride Review

As a kid I always enjoyed certain types of genres, mainly science fiction, fantasy and action but when it comes to science fiction there wasn't anything more fun than B-movies or exploitation films. Sometimes however, stepping out of the scifi venue wasn't a bad thing because there are different types of exploitation films to see and in this case we look into the "biker" exploitation. Hell Ride which is presented by Quentin Tarantion came out in a limited release several weeks ago. Concieved by Larry Bishop, Hell Ride was written and directed by Bishop who also stars as Pistolero. After the murder of Pistolero's woman Cherokee Kisum by the 666ers, the Victors who are lead by Pistolero set off to avenge her death. In the fine tradition of exploitation Michael Madsen and Eric Balfour joins Bishop as The Gent and Comanche with David Carradine and Vinnie Jones making up the 666ers as The Deuce and Billy Wings
Likes:
- This movie has everything that an exploitation film needs; violence, cheesy characters and dialog, an abundance of bad language and of course... naked women.
- This film is simply fun.
Dislikes:
- Just like any B-movie this is no exception; The story isn't good or compelling in any way. You really have to know what to expect from a movie like this because exploitation films never really paid attention to quality of story and that's no different here. So since I knew Hell Rides story would be crap and I wouldn't be taking it seriously, it still has to be a dislike because just because it's exploitation, it's no excuse.
I'm trying to be honest; It's difficult to pick out my likes and dislikes from a movie like this because there isn't much to really stab at. It's a B-movie... that's it. If your into films like that then you'll probably like Hell Ride and simply have fun for what it is. It's a violent movie with a bad story and it has lots of naked chicks and cheesy characters.
All in all I have to say it's a fun movie and it's something that you could watch to kill a Saturday afternoon with before you go out at night to party and get crazy. Hell, this movie might even get you excited to do that. That said, Hell Ride gets a 5.5 out of 10. Don't expect much from Hell Ride but have fun with what it is.
