The Phantom Heads To The SCI-FI Channel As A Series?
Does anyone remember The Phantom movie with Bill Zane? I haven't seen that movie in years but from what I remember... it was a guilty pleasure. It had a hot Kristy Swanson in it.
During Comic-Con Newsarama got word from Daniel Knauf that a 4 hour Phantom movie that was written by Knauf and his son Charles, is hoping for a green light from the SCI-FI Channel for a potential series. "Sci-Fi's saying, you know, let's take another look at this Phantom guy," says Knauf.
His son Charles tells Newsarama, "we upgraded everything so that it's a modern-day Phantom. In the tradition of the Phantom, it's going to be a great adventure story. It's going to be action and car chases. He's still got a purple costume, but we upgraded it. We made it tougher. And he's got both rings, and they mark you, just like the original story. But we're updating everything to make it more modern."
The question that looms in my mind is if this is going to be another Flash Gordon for the channel. This could be cool, but I really can't say anything until The Phantom gets greenlit. Until then, would you watch a Phantom series.
