Battlestar Galactica Movie Will Be A Cylon Story

The final episode for Battlestar Galactica finished filming just a couple of weeks ago, but that is not the end for the franchise.  We have known for a while now that a couple of TV movies, like the Razor feature, was on the way.  As of now only one is in production that will be directed by the star of Battlestar Galactica Edward James Olmos and written by Jane Espenson.

The LA Times now gives us some details of the BSG film.  "The stand-alone will document the Cylons' attempts - those of two agents in particular - to grapple with human survivors, both those aboard ships and those left alive on planets, shortly after the Cylons' destruction of human home worlds." The LA Times also tells us who is so far signed for the new film.  "Three confirmed cast members are Michael Trucco (Sam Anders), Aaron Douglas (Galen Tyrol), and Dean Stockwell (Cavil, Cylon model No. 1) - all Cylons."

Part of me is thinking that the Anders story might take place during his time on Caprica right after the attack.  I obviously don't know that for a fact but since he's a Cylon, his full back story seems important to his character.

Anything Galactica these days gets me pumped.  I can't wait for the final ten episodes and the news of more features after the series ends makes me very happy.  I think it's also cool that Edward James Olmos is directing.  It seems only fitting since he is an Adama.  Don't forget that this is not the only Galactica on the way... The prequel Caprica will soon be airing.

Looking forward to the movie myself. It will be interesting to see how they don’t trip over their own mythology.
