I had no idea that the Red Sonja remake was in high gear like this until I saw that a panel with Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan was scheduled.  The poster above is first look and an idea on where it’s going… and I love it!  I’ve said many many times before, Rose McGowan has that Heavy Metal look to her and it totally works here in the poster.

Thanks to Doug Nagy of The Movie Blog; he puts up a report from the panel.  “[Rodriguez] repeatedly mentioned the importance of keeping the character true to form and much talk was given about the violence.  When asked if the film would be PG-13 he responded by saying ‘It will be double R’,” says TMB.  Damn right it should be Rated-R.  That alone is getting me excited for this film when at first I was somewhat skeptical.  During the panel Rose McGowan, who is playing Sonja, says “Red Sonja will be an origin story that she described as HAR, COLD, DIRTY AND BLOODY!”  Again… that’s what I want to hear for a Red Sonja remake and from the sounds of it this film is going to be sexy and awesome.  Also announced, Douglas Aarniokoski  will be directing.  This gets me a little worried since he doesn’t have that much experience as a center seat director but he’s been an first, second and special unit director in a lot of different films so he might in fact know what he’s doing.
