Peter Berg Say’s His DUNE Will Be Different

DuneDirector Peter Berg has his next big budget in preproduction, another remake of Frank Herbert's Dune.  We've been hearing about Berg working on Dune for months now so it's sort of old news.

The Kingdom and the Hancock director tells THR that his verison of Dune is going to be different than David Lynch's film, but that goes without saying when it comes to remakes.  "What I never saw in Lynch's film was a really strong adventure story.  There's a much more muscular time to be had there," says Berg.  "There is a sense in the book that the commodity is driving the train.  But I don't want to hang the story on that.  I read the book and really like it."

I for one love Lynch's Dune.  I remember seeing it when I was really young and was just blown away at the world of Science Fiction.  Among other SF film, David Lynch's Dune opened up my mind for the genre.  I'm not against a remake for this because I'm actually very curious to see how Berg creates this world on the big screen.  I am very skeptical however because I don't believe that there is an audience to be had.  Paramount is taking a big risk, but lets see how it turns out.  Berg could create something that turns into eye candy for the general movie goer.
