Hellboy is dependably fun; for sure that director has an amazing imagination, reminded me a lot of his work in Pan’s Labyrinth

HB2 Good film, but did not raise the bar where the first left it. Really enjoyed the creatures, but the plot lines/character arcs/story arcs were only touched on.

If there was any missed opportuinty it was the story. The story could have been taken deeper in many directions: Abe’s love, the conflict with nature, being hated for being different, ready for fatherhood, Armagendon, personal growth…but they were all just touched on without any real depth to any of them. There were a lot of classic fanasty cliches used here that really could have gotten their own Hellboy twist, but alas no. The clear lack of concern for the human agents was just really dumb coupled with the fact that the human agents carry just hand guns when they know they are going after the supernatural.

I needed more to recommened this movie for adults, but I think teens will have a Hell of a time.

Soran, now that you’ve mentioned it and now that I’m looking back on it, I see your point. Manning wasn’t as good as a character as he was in the first film. As for a third film, your gonna have to wait a long time until Guillermo del Toro is done with both Hobbit films and that won’t be for several more years.

For once in my life (and if you knew me, you’d know how rare this was), I walked out of this movie with only one and a half complaints. One complaint is *historic*. I think this movie is my third favorite movie of all time (the first one being The Crow, the second being Terminator 2). I didn’t have any problems with the romance or the other stuff, I thought it was all pure genius. It was like watching Empire Strikes Back for the very first time - and I do remember that day, in my childhood, quite well.

My one and a half complaints: Why the hell did they change Agent Manning into a total fucking idiot? He was a very nifty character in HellBoy I, and in this one, he had a total reversal. I’ve never seen such inconsistent writing. It felt SO forced to move the plot along. And my half-complaint was that Krauss was a one-dimensional character that never got explored - the reason it’s a half complaint is he didn’t NEED to be explored for the movie to go forward, so i instantly forgave it

I love this movie. I cannot WAIT for the third one.
