Don S. Davis Has Passed Away
Sad news for us Stargate SG-1 fans. Fan favorite Don S. Davis who played General George Hammond on Stargate passed away on June 29, 2008. He was 65 years old.
Below is a message from Don's representative and his wife Ruby.
Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,
So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.
On behalf of his family and wife, Ruby, we thank you for your prayers and condolences. A family memorial where Don's ashes will be scattered in the ocean will take place in a few weeks, and should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Associationin Don's memory.
This is horrible news! I thought his character was great on Stargate and he was my favorite base commander out of all of the leaders on both SG-1 and Atlantis. I know he makes an appearance in Stargate Continuum due out at the end of July but I hope that during the 5th season of Atlantis or the next SG-1 movie they do a really respectable tribute for him. I'd like to see that involved in the story.
I'm sorry to his family and the cast and crew of Stargate who've worked along side him for 7+ years.

I met him at DragonCon 06 - Even though he had a bit of a dirty mind (and yes, even he admitted it so I’m not speaking ill :D) he was the most charming, gracious, and well-spoken of the actors there, with the possible exception of Torri Higginson. He was a fantastic guy to talk to and I will miss him.
