Paramount Drops Out Of Comic Con

This is very surprising and it kind of makes me feel better that I'm not going to Comic Con but the big news of the day is that Paramount Pictures has apparently pulled out of the San Diego Comic Con.
Anne Thompson over at her Variety Blog has gotten word from a Paramount spokes person saying that "the timing was off this year" whatever the hell that means.
"Paramount Pictures will not be putting on any panels or bringing any stars to Comic-Con this year. They may do some viral stuff. But their big 'geek' titles G.I. Joe, JJ Abrams' Star Trek, Michael Bay's Transformers 2 and M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender won't be released until 2009," say's Thompson. I don't know what that means... 2009. Haven't they always previewed in some fashion the next years movies, yea... so who cares 2009.
In the same post Thompson adds word from Cinematical. They heard from Paramount spokesman Mike Vollman saying, "We have a vibrant and exciting schedule of activities planned for Comic-Con." That's great.... I hope they mean trailers and clips from next years movies. Sure I'm not going but this stuff gets leaked all the time.
So there you have it folks. If you are going to Comic Con, tough luck I guess. I'm sure it's still going to be an amazing experience for all of you out there. It just would have been a little better if Paramount stepped up and showed something. Seriously, if they did want to do a lot of panels and what not, they could at least preview a couple of movies. Let's see how it turns out.
