Len Wiseman To Direct Gears Of War

Len Wiseman

Len Wiseman is of course one of the luckiest men on the planet; yes that is Kate Beckinsale's booty he's holding on to.  So yea, very lucky.  However, he still has to work from time to time.  IESB.net is reporting that Wiseman is developing a script and directing Gears of War.  Working with Chris Morgan who just did Wanted Gears of War follows  the soldiers of Delta Squad trying to save the humans of planet Sera from an enemy called the Locust Horde.

We know Wiseman can direct action films from Underworld to Die Hard 4.  The biggest challenge is coming up with a script that will be interesting enough and good enough to break the curse that's been on video game adapted movies; from sucking really bad.  Sure there has been a movie here and there that hasn't been that bad but so far I haven't seen any that I can really call entertaining.  Wiseman's involvment does give me a little hope.  At least Uwe Boll isn't doing it.

It's going to be a long process I'm sure so we can only wait and see how this will turn out.  As for now, the news is hopeful at best.

lol. That says it all, doesn’t it? It doesn’t matter how bad the movie is, it could always be worse if Uwe Boll did it. :)

I kindof hated Gears of War - were you a big fan of the game? It had no plot, like, at all.

No I’ve never played it. I still think it’s important to see if Wiseman can create film that gamers like and a film that is actually good. I’ll tell you the truth, I haven’t played video games in years… I just don’t have the time anymore which sucks because I use to live off of games.

Wow, it must be kind of nice to always have your time filled, if stressful. I get bored *a lot*, I envy you now.

I enjoyed Gears, but, yeah, there was no real plot to speak of. In a way, that could be good for the movie. There is an enormous amount of leeway for creating a good story. Of course, the potential for EPIC FAIL is also great. :)
