I've held out on posting this for a while because I honestly thought it wasn't true until it was confirmed or rather worked with someone else's material.  First thing is first, this is potentially a major spoiler for the end of Terminator 4 and I'm talking about HUGE SPOILER so if you don't want to be spoiled stop reading here.

Those of you who have been reading NewFilmDimension for a while or read it just enough, will know that I have no hope for this film and that I'm predicting that Terminator 4 will turn out to be garbage for multiple reasons.  The only thing shining through is the guy pictured above Christian Bale who's casted as John Connor in the new film, the only actor or piece of the puzzle in which I love.  Everything else, rumors, casting, the director, etc... doesn't thrill me and in some cases pisses me off.  On to the big spoiler...

Moriarty at Ain't It Cool ran a story on Monday about Terminator 4 and the character of Marcus, a character that we knew for sometime to be more important then just a simple resistance fighter or Terminator, whatever the case may be.  The quote that I'm about to post from AICN could be vague so read carefully so you can understand what is happening in this movie:

"Alright so the main character is a cyborg named Marcus. For some background, Marcus was a criminal who was executed in 2003. He donated his body to Project Angel which was involved with SkyNet. They take his body and make a terminator out of him so he's a terminator skeleton but has living muscle/skin and a beating heart too. At the end of the movie John Connor is fighting a T800 model 101 and loses. He dies and the top resistance people come up with a plan to help the resistance keep fighting on. The resistance feels that it's important to keep the image or idea that John Connor is still alive so the resistance keeps going. So they rip off Marcus' skin and put John Connor's on the skeleton so now Marcus is John Connor."

After reading that most people would assume that this plot rumor is not true just for its shear craziness.  Later that day Chud.com ran a story basically confirming most of this stuff about Marcus and how this news clarifies an old rumor about Christian Bale being casted as a Terminator before we found out he was actually John Connor.  On Marcus, "I knew that he was a cyborg - human brain with a robot body.  I knew that he was a death row inmate.  I knew that he was from the past," says Devin Faraci from Chud, "you  may remember that I ran with the story that Bale would be playing a Terminator... well, I was sort of right.  The confusion arose from the fact that by the end of the film, Connor is dead and Marcus, the cyborg Terminator, is impersonating him."

Now that you have the story, here is my personal commentary and opinion on this.  THIS IS FUCKING STUPID!!!  Who does McG think he is, M. Night Shyamalan?  Is this the "big twist" at the end of Terminator 4.  This news alone makes me feel like everything about John Connor is just a waste.  Sure Connor may be a symbol to the human race but this is just retarded.  All I ever wanted from this movie, from the start was simply a war between the human race and the machines with character drama between the lead actors, lead by John Connor.  I never wanted all of these twist Terminators with hearts in a PG-13 movie.  McG would have been better off making Terminator 4 essentially the prequel to Terminator  1 by simply following the canon of the first 2 films, while we watch the war and the moment leading up to when Kyle Reese goes back in time.  Instead we get Anton Yelchin playing and possibly ruining a macho as hell character Kyle Reese and John Connor getting ass rapped by McG's hopes of being The Shyamhammer part II.

Speaking of McG, he makes a post at the Terminator 4 official blog letting us know about a few things during the fifth week of shooting.  At the end of his post he sort of denies these rumors above but really isn't saying much about it.

By the way, there are only three people who know the ending.

That's really all he says about the end of the film.  As to the other things he posted, I have to admit it actually sounds cool and I'm contradicting myself.

In this film, there are Hydrobots that patrol the water, Transports that move human prisoners around, Harvesters that collect human beings as lab rats for Skynet and Aerostats that survey all that is going on with the resistance the world over.

We've started shooting the T-600 - the bigger, grimier, nastier version that preceded the T-800.

Like Reese says, they're easier to spot but they pack a mini gun and carry kick ass fire power. They're eight-foot tall killers that prowl the badlands looking for anything with a heartbeat to terminate.

Stan Winston, Production Designer Martin Laing and ILM came up with the designs and that thing is on Kyle Reese's ass throughout the entire picture. Wanted to achieve that bummer, rubbery skin, prosthetic look that cloaks an unrelenting machine with a singular focus of killing.

Yea ok, it sounds really damn cool but it may turn out to be different once it hits the big screen.  The bottom line on all of this and I say this with sincerity, I hope McG makes me eat my words when Terminator 4 premieres.  I love the franchise and I would hate to see this movie suck.  As much as I bad mouth it and the production of it, I really hope that I eat my words and love this movie but sadly, I'm not holding on to any hope.
