Ron Moore’s Virtuality Has A New Lead

James D'arcyVirtuality, from the mind of Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, has it's new lead.  James D'Arcy (Master and Commander) has been picked up for the 2 hour pilot directed by Peter Berg (The Kingdom, Hancock).

From THR:

James D'Arcy has been tapped as the lead in "Virtuality," Fox's two-hour back-door pilot from "Battlestar Galactica" mastermind Ronald D. Moore, UMS and BermanBraun.

The sci-fi project, to be directed by Peter Berg, is set aboard the Phaeton, Earth's first starship, on a 10-year journey to explore a distant solar system. To help the crew endure the long trip, NASA equips the ship with advanced virtual reality modules, allowing them to assume adventurous identities and go anyplace they want.

Brit D'Arcy ("Churchill at War") will play the ship's psych officer, who produces the virtual reality shows. Last year, the CAA-repped D'Arcy starred on another Fox sci-fi pilot, "Them," which was co-created by Moore's "Battlestar" cohort, David Eick.

This is one of a couple new Sci-Fi shows I've been looking forward too.  It's also a good chance to see if Peter Berg can take on science fiction given the fact that he's planning to remake DUNE in the future.

So far all of the new TV shows that are in the works have been casting damn good actors, especially Caprica's cast, so I'm not worried that Virtuality is going to get bad actors to play their leads.  So this is a good thing I trust.
